Jacob Collier is no stranger to the music industry’s biggest red carpet. In fact, the 2025 Grammy Awards marked his seventh year going to—and being nominated at—the event.

“It’s such a terrific honor to be invited to a gathering of such special musical minds,” he says. “You never know who you’re going to glimpse, or what’s going to go down, but without fail there are surprises and thrills. Behind all the pomp and circumstance are a community of really special and sensitive creative people making things that matter to them, coming together to celebrate each other. That’s a special thing.”

You might recognize Collier’s name for a slew of reasons. He was famously discovered by none other than Quincy Jones, co-wrote and provided backing vocals for SZA’s hit single “Good Days,” and has contributed to recent albums by everyone from Coldplay to Stormzy.

Since 2018, the English singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and educator has been working on Djesse, an ambitious four-volume album featuring a dynamic mix of influences, styles, and collaborators—among them Herbie Hancock, Daniel Caesar, Tank and the Bangas, T-Pain, and JoJo.

And at this year’s Grammys, Collier was nominated in three different categories for the final installment of the project, Djesse Vol. 4, including Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella, which he won for his rendition of "Bridge Over Troubled Water" featuring John Legend & Tori Kelly. With this new Grammy under his belt, Collier has now won a total of seven—all by the age of 30.

For the occasion, Collier, with help from his stylist Marta Del Rio, chose a kaleidoscopic sequined suit by OTT, an Emirati-European design house and the same label he wore to last year’s Grammy Awards. “I’m a big fan of color and of detail,” Collier says of the suit, which featured a small heart detail on one of the jacket’s lapels. “Its broad angular shoulders paired with trousers I could jump around in made for a comfortable and fun time!”

Collier was also drawn to the look’s rich tones and the way it reminded him of the very album he wore it in celebration of. “I love the endless sparkling paired with deep midnight-colorings,” he says. “When it catches the light, I’m surrounded by colorful particles, which feels like what Djesse Vol. 4 is made of: so many little parts that make a whole.”

The album is a masterful feat of collaboration and exchange, with contributions from Stormzy, John Mayer, Brandi Carlile, Michael McDonald, and Shawn Mendes, as well as the voices of over 100,000 audience members whose singing voices he recorded at various shows of his over the past few years. “The community at the heart of this album means the absolute world to me,” Collier tells Bazaar. “I’m so excited that an album as weird, bold and radically inclusive was able to sit alongside such other luminary records. I think it bodes well for musicians the world over who believe in making honest, weird and community driven music, and that really means a huge amount to me.”
