Trigger warning: This article contains references to miscarriage which may be upsetting for some readers.

Julia Morris is known for her cheeky wit and larger-than-life personality, but the comedian has opened up about a very serious topic that has personally affected her. Appearing on the Two Doting Dads podcast this week, the I'm A Celebrity revealed to hosts Matty J and Ash Wicks that she had suffered a miscarriage at the age of 38.

The conversation began as Matty asked Julia if there was a particular memory about being pregnant that stuck out to her as being the hardest. The TV host responded with a story about a time when she had to travel to South Africa for work and suffered a miscarriage on the flight over.

"I fell pregnant and I had to go to do the Cape Town Comedy Festival for six weeks and I got onto the flight and I thought, 'Oh, I'm bleeding'," Julia said. "As I was getting on the flight, I had nothing with me. I was in the bathroom for ages and I'm like, okay, this is happening."

She continued, "So I was sitting next to the comedian Andrew Maxwell, who is a very funny Irish comedian, and I came back from the bathroom and he goes, 'How long was the poo that you had to do'?

The I'm A Celebrity star went on to say that while she was sad, she also knew that she and then-husband Dan Thomas would try again for a family.

"I was 38 and then I started to think, which again, fertility wasn't talked about as much. It should be way more spoken about," she said.

This prompted Matty - whose wife Laura Byrne has suffered two miscarriages - to talk about how it's common for couples to be told not to tell anyone they expect for 12 weeks.

"I say, shut up, tell everyone because otherwise people don't know what you're going through," the former Bachelor star said.

Added Julia "I would love people to speak about it more because what it will give us is a proper spectrum into the many different feelings you can have about it."

She concluded, "So like you say, when you're talking about mourning the loss of what could have been within our family, whereas I was in a different headspace of, I just want to get on with trying again because I want that sadness to go away because that sadness will be replenished by the happiness."

Julia went on to have two daughters, Ruby and Sophie, with her now ex-husband, from whom she split in 2023.

The clip, which was posted to TikTok was met with several comments from listeners/viewers who shared their own experiences of loss and explained what it meant to them to have Julia tell her story.

"We had a missed miscarriage in January, then a chemical pregnancy in April," one fan wrote. "The expectation to move on and get on with life is so harsh. It feels like such a taboo subject to some people."

"This is so real," another wrote simply.

"Definitely not talked about enough," agreed another person. "I have had 8 pregnancies in a 10 year span. I have 2 beautiful children but the pain and suffering lives with me everyday."

Added a different fan, "As someone who's also suffered a miscarriage and infertility it's just really nice to see representation."
