Golden Globes viewers slam host Nikki Glaser's opening monologue: 'Just no'

Golden Globes host Nikki Glaser surprised viewers with her opening monologue, because, for the most part, it was actually pretty good. Many viewers have taken to social media to praise the comedian for the opener, however, there was one notable moment that left people unimpressed — a joke about Sean 'Diddy' Combs.

Nikki made the divisive joke while addressing Zendaya saying, "And Challengers? Girl, oh my God, it was so good, I mean, that movie was more sexually charged than Diddy's credit card."

After the crowd made an awkward sound in response, Nikki continued, "Oh no, I'm sorry, I'm upset too, the after party's not going to be as good this year, but we have to move on!

"I know, Stanley Tucci 'Freak Off' just doesn't have the same ring to it, but no baby oil this year, just lots of olive oil," Nikki added, referencing Diddy's parties, which were known as 'Freak Offs'.

Diddy is facing several charges, including sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution. He is also facing allegations of rape, sexual assault and sexual abuse. The rapper has denied all claims and pleaded not guilty in court.

Nikki Glaser divides with Diddy joke during Golden Globes monologue

Viewers were shocked by the comment, with many taking to X to share their thoughts.

"I just... will never find Diddy jokes funny," one user wrote.

"I actually liked the monologue until the Diddy joke. #GoldenGlobes just no," another added.

"EWW what the f**k not the Diddy jokes girl almost everything else was rly funny," a third wrote.

"Now I wanna know what jokes were cut from Nikki Glaser’s opening monologue," someone else quipped.

"The Diddy jokes... almost turned my TV off," another said.

"Can someone please tell these 'comedians' that the Diddy jokes are not funny?" one said. "We’re in for a long night with the golden globes I think…"

Golden Globes viewers praise Nikki Glaser

Aside from the Diddy joke, viewers seemed to have enjoyed Nikki's monologue, with many saying she has already vastly improved on last year's host Jo Koy.

"Diddy joke aside, I think Nikki did well!" one viewer said.

"Solid work, Nikki. Better than Jo Koy at least lol," another added.

"Nikki Glazer surprisingly good for the opening!" a third wrote.

"Nikki Glaser is killinggggg it. We have never had a bigger upgrade than this," someone else said.

"Nikki Glaser just gave the best Golden Globes monologue in years! Kudos!" another agreed.

Many others begged Nikki to return for next year's show, with some saying she "hit it out of the park" with her monologue.
