'Unexpected setback' to Samantha Armytage's new show The Golden Bachelor
EXCLUSIVE: Channel Nine has faced a setback with casting The Golden Bachelor.
There's been a lot of hype surrounding Samantha Armytage's move from Channel Seven to Channel Nine to host the upcoming first Australian season of The Golden Bachelor. The dating show isn't the type of show we often see on TV as it focuses on a more mature aged group aged between 60 and 75.
And while many fans are eagerly awaiting the show, we may need to wait a little longer, sadly. A casting producer at Warner Bros tells Yahoo Lifestyle that they've faced an "unexpected setback" while trying to find people to be on the show.

"A lot of the applicants don’t know how to fill out the application form and upload pictures and videos. A lot don’t even own an iPhone or computer to do it themselves after hearing about the show on the news," the source tells us of the not-so-tech-savvy potential reality stars.
"Applications started off slow but now we've pushed for people to nominate their grandparents and it's picked up," they add.
The source added that the casting team have also been approaching retirement homes across Australia directly to find the perfect participants.
Bizarre way Samantha Armytage found out she was hosting The Golden Bachelor
It comes after Sam told Yahoo Lifestyle the strange way she found out she was to host the new reality show.
The news that The Golden Bachelor would finally come to Aussie shores came after months of speculation that the former Channel Seven personality would be the one to host the show.
Speaking to Yahoo Lifestyle, however, Sam revealed that she first heard about her good career news from "the gossip pages". The former Farmer Wants A Wife host said she was thrilled that it had all worked out but she was "still curious" as to how it all happened.
"They were saying I was hosting the show well before my management had been contacted," Samantha told Yahoo Lifestyle. "I am still curious how that happened but I am excited it worked out. I don’t know if it was a good guess or if the person who wrote that story actually had intel!"
According to a source at Channel Nine: "Sophie Monk and Sonia Kruger were also being discussed but fans seem to really get behind the idea of Samantha taking the hosting role."
An air date has not been confirmed, however, The Golden Bachelor is set to air this year on Nine.
