Donald Trump Sends a Direct Message to Patrick Mahomes Before the Super Bowl
Donald Trump is sending some support to Patrick Mahomes ahead of Super Bowl LIX.
Before the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback takes on Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles in the big game on Sunday, Feb. 9, the president made a point to congratulate Mahomes on a recent family victory.
Trump, who already announced his plans to attend Sunday's game, took to Truth Social this week to write, "Congratulations to the Chiefs GREAT Quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, and his very beautiful and BRILLIANT wife, Brittany, on the birth of their new baby daughter, Golden Raye."
Last month, the couple welcomed their third child together, with their new baby girl joining two older siblings: Sterling Skye, 3, and Patrick "Bronze" Lavon Mahomes III, 2.
Trump—who will become the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl game—hasn't explicitly stated which team he's rooting for on Sunday, but he has been vocal about his support for Mahomes and his fellow Chiefs star player, Travis Kelce.
“I don’t want to say, but there’s a certain quarterback that seems to be a pretty good winner," Trump said, per USA Today.
Despite Trump's previously expressed hatred for Kelce's girlfriend, Taylor Swift, the Chiefs tight end said this week that it will be a "great honor" to participate in Sunday's game with the president watching.
"No matter who the president is, I know I'm excited because it's the biggest game of my life," Kelce said in a press conference. ""Having the president there—you know, it's the best country in the world, so it will be pretty cool."
Super Bowl LIX will kick off at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, La. on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 6:30 p.m. ET.
