Meghan wears sweet tribute to her children in new Instagram post
Duchess Meghan has returned to Instagram to publicly thank Billie Eilish for a special cause.
In the self-filmed video, the Duchess of Sussex offered a rare glimpse into life at her Montecito home. Seemingly makeup-free, the royal wore a black crewneck jumper with a pair of high-waisted blue jeans. Followers were quick to notice that Meghan’s sweater included a poignant nod to her children with Prince Harry, five-year-old Archie Harrison and three-year-old Lilibet Diana. Printed near the jumper's collar were her kids’ first names in a cursive white font.
“I was just told that something arrived that I have been waiting for,” Meghan said at the start of the video, before panning the camera toward a bundle of T-shirts and concert merchandise
Meghan explained that Eilish had generously sent over the package—including a signed vinyl—after the duchess met a 15-year-old girl who lost her treasured concert t-shirt and the rest of her belongings when her house burned down in the Eaton Fire.
“About two or three weeks ago when my husband and I were in Altadena, we went to a community where all the homes were left in ashes. This mum had found a couple things and as I was talking to her, I turned and looked and saw this young woman,” Meghan continued. “Her mum shares with me that when they came back to see their house for the first time, just as we were meeting them, that all that she had been looking for in her home was the T-shirt from the Billie Eilish concert that she had just gone to that she left in the washing machine and dryer. And of course they now see their home and the washing machine and dryer are ash, they’re not there anymore.”
Meghan recalled her mission to track down the pop star. “I said, ‘I don’t know Billie Eilish but I’m gonna figure out how to get you this shirt.’ So I thought of everybody I knew and I made a voice note and I said, ‘Please can someone get this voice note to Billie Eilish, this is what I’m asking.’ Huge thank you Billie Eilish, this is going to mean so much to her. And honestly to Adam Levine and Behati [Prinsloo], you guys helped get this over the line.”
The duchess concluded the video with one more message of gratitude: “To everyone who’s showing up for people in big or small ways to get through what’s happening in California, thank you so much.”
Meghan and Prince Harry have been quietly lending a hand to those impacted by the Los Angeles wildfires. The two were previously seen volunteering with World Central Kitchen, and Meghan took bags of donations to teen charity Altadena Girls.
