Critics Choice Awards 2025: The Penguin, Nobody Wants This and Matlock Among Winners

After two postponements due to the recent Los Angeles wildfires, the 30th annual Critics Choice Awards were at last held on Friday — and it was a big night for Shōgun.

FX’s acclaimed drama, which went into the evening with the most TV category nods, ultimately won in four of the five categories for which it was nominated, including trophies for Best Drama Series, Actor in a Drama (Hiroyuki Sanada), Supporting Actor in a Drama (Tadanobu Asano) and Supporting Actress in a Drama (Moeka Hoshi). Anna Sawai, however — nominated for Best Actress in a Drama Series — ultimately lost out to Kathy Bates, picking up the win for CBS’ Matlock.

First-time TV winners included Nobody Wants This‘ Adam Brody, Shrinking‘s Michael Urie and The Penguin‘s Cristin Milioti. Meanwhile, on the film side, Anora clinched the coveted Best Picture victory, while Wicked, Conclave and The Substance were among the movies to notch multiple wins.
