Caravan owner's 'fantastic' Kmart find for common travel concern: 'Would recommend'

As you may be very well aware by now, camping and caravanning have become Australia's biggest pastimes. Whether it's due to exorbitant house prices, a deep-seated desire to see more of our stunning country or just a general "why the heck not" mentality, people are jumping into their motorhomes and hitting the road in search of adventure and a change of pace.

For many of these travellers, leaving their pets behind is not an option. After all, these furry critters are part of the family, right?!

While there are plenty of great dog-friendly campsites and caravan parks dotted around Australia, pet owners still need to act responsibly and ensure their four-legged friends are safe and not a nuisance to other guests.

One camper has come up with a clever solution for this, using a Kmart find to keep their pooch happy and enclosed, while still having plenty of space to play.

Sharing their tip to a popular Facebook group, the camper wrote, "Doggy play pen for camping, $60 and I bought 2 and joined them together!"

Kmart item 'fantastic' for camping and caravanning

"Wow we do the same thing I thought I was the only crazy doggy person," one person replied.

"My friend did this. Great idea," another wrote.

Other people praised the idea and said that they intended to head to Kmart and buy a couple of the enclosures for their own pets.

The pet enclosure from the budget retailer has plenty of positive reviews on the Kmart website, with people praising its sturdiness and the fact you can combine more than one, as the camper did, to give your pet more room.

"Fantastic easy setup fencing, we use it around our caravan to give our Jack Russell some space to roam free! Would recommend these for travelling with pets," one review reads.

"A fantastic pet enclosure especially for camping. We bought two of these and link them together outside our caravan to create a little fence to keep the dogs in," says another.

"Great for little kids too haha," someone joked.

"Ooh... this could be really good for toddlers," another laughed. '

"It is," someone replied. "We have a different brand, one from Bunnings and it keeps my 1yr and our 2x GSD in when camping."
