Travelling family's 'picture perfect' beachfront caravan park find: 'Ocean as your backyard'

With summer in full swing, thousands of local and international travellers are exploring Australia and its stunning landscapes. It's certainly no secret that we house some of the most spectacular spots on the planet, with two of our beaches recently being ranked as the best in the world.

Better still, the clear, sparkling water and gorgeous white sand of many of these locations do not come with the price that a Euro or even Southeast Asian adventure surely would. One travelling family of expats discovered this for themselves with a breathtaking caravan park find just 90 minutes north of Sydney.

Mum of three, Becci Car, told Yahoo Lifestyle that the Blue Lagoon Beach Resort in Bateau Bay was the "perfect spot" to break up their road trip from the Gold Coast to Sydney.

"The resort backed onto the beach, offering picture-perfect views," she said. "The resort had great amenities like pedal carts and a pool, which were so much fun to use after a long day of driving. Plus, the local area had some lovely little towns to explore, like Bateau Bay, Terrigal, and Norah Head."

The Blue Lagoon Beach resort is perfect for all kinds of travellers, with campsites and powered caravan sites available from $40 a night as well as cabins, which Becci described as luxurious.

"Our accommodation was absolutely stunning!," she told Yahoo Lifestyle. "We stayed in a beachfront cabin, and it was hands down one of the most luxurious cabins we've ever stayed in—and we've stayed in quite a few! The cabin was very clean, modern, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay."

She continued, "The layout was spacious and thoughtfully designed, with all the amenities you'd expect. One of the standout features was the fantastic alfresco area on the deck, but the best part was definitely the ocean views. The cabin was a true gem!"

Becci, who regularly shares family travel content through her social media accounts, posted a video of her 3 -night stay on TikTok, encouraging her followers to imagine the ocean as their backyard while citing the best part of the stay as being able to roll out of bed to catch the sunrise over the ocean.

"One of the absolute highlights of our time at the resort was watching the sunrise over the ocean from our accommodation," she tells Yahoo Lifestyle. "Another highlight was having easy access to the beach—being able to walk right down and spend time by the water was a real treat.

"Whether it was a morning swim or just relaxing on the sand, the beach made the stay extra special. I would definitely recommend this place to others, especially if you're road tripping down the coast. It's in a great location with stunning views, excellent amenities, and there’s so much to explore nearby."
