Samantha Armytage confirmed as host of The Golden Bachelor on Channel Nine for 2025
The popular reality show is finally coming to Australia.
Following months of speculation, Channel Nine has finally announced they will be bringing The Golden Bachelor to Australia in 2025. The series, which launched in the US last year starring 72-year-old Gerry Turner, is a spin-off of the popular dating franchise featuring senior citizens finding love.
The network revealed the exciting news at its annual Upfronts event on Thursday, confirming that the reality show will air sometime next year. They also announced that Samantha Armytage will take on the role of the show’s host as she’s signed a new contract with the network.
"We are beyond thrilled to welcome Samantha Armytage to Nine as the new host for our quest for love, The Golden Bachelor, where everyone deserves a second chance at love," Nine's Chief Marketing Officer Liana Dubois said. "Maybe a third or a fourth."

Samantha shared in August that she was leaving Channel Seven after 21 years, with her contract wrapping up this month. In addition to being the co-host on Sunrise from 2013 to 2021, she also hosted Farmer Wants A Wife from 2022 to 2024.
Despite hosting The Bachelor Australia since 2013, in addition to its spin-offs The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise, Channel Nine chose not to enlist Osher Günsberg as host of The Golden Bachelor.
While it’s unknown how the 50-year-old feels about being ‘replaced’, Yahoo Lifestyle can reveal he was seated in the front row at Channel Nine’s Upfronts on Thursday when the announcement was made.
His podcast ‘Better Than Yesterday’ is joining Nine’s podcast network in 2025, which may suggest he’ll be making TV appearances on the network in the near future.
What else do we know about The Golden Bachelor?
Production company Warner Bros. Australia first sparked speculation about a local version of The Golden Bachelor in November 2023 when they shared a post about “seeking single seniors for an exciting new TV series”.
“We are looking for fun, active, and outgoing male seniors aged 60 or over who are divorced/widowed and open to meeting the next love of their life in our ground-breaking new series,” they wrote.
“We want to hear from you or anyone who would like to nominate someone they know to take part in the show. We want to celebrate love at every age and show that when it comes to finding love and romance, age is just a number!”

The inaugural season of The Golden Bachelor in the US starred 72-year-old Gerry Turner, a widower and father of two. The show received its highest viewership in three years, according to The Hollywood Reporter, and was praised by fans for its inclusivity and diversity.
A second season titled The Golden Bachelorette premiered in the US last month with 61-year-old private school administrator and widow Joan Vassos in the leading role.
