The Block's Maddy and Charlotte say they've not had a 'clear apology' from Kylie
EXCLUSIVE: The 2024 winners spill on what really went down behind-the-scenes at the auction.
After dramatically quitting the competition at the end of week 12 and vowing not to take part in the auction, The Block fans were surprised to see Kylie and Brad appear in Sunday night’s final episode. The couple were in high spirits as they reunited with their co-stars and ended up receiving $650,000 profit after selling their property to billionaire entrepreneur Adrian Portelli.
While there was plenty of speculation in the lead-up about whether Kylie and Brad would show up to the auction - in addition to whether they are still together - Maddy and Charlotte tell Yahoo Lifestyle they learned the controversial couple would be participating a few days before filming. The sisters reveal they were “pretty certain they would be showing up” after they attended the Melbourne Cup, where Kylie debuted a new hairstyle.
“We were like, they’re in Melbourne, they’d be stupid not to,” Charlotte says. “Also, this is the time to collect your money so why would you not come to the money collecting day out of all the days?”

The sisters had quite a tumultuous relationship with Kylie and Brad throughout the season after they were ostracised upon arrival and labelled “the most hated people on The Block”. Maddy and Charlotte previously admitted they found it “triggering” watching the show on TV and reliving the “bullying” they endured, however, they’ve now confirmed they are yet to receive an official apology.
“We had communication with a few people here and there, but not a whole lot,” Maddy shares, while Charlotte adds, “No clear apology”.
“We obviously have reconnected with people since and we've spoken about it briefly, here and there, and it is water under the bridge for us. Everyone deserves a second chance and life's too short. It's reality TV, and we just want everyone to do well and be happy.”
Maddy spills on the cast dynamic at the auction
Speaking about auction day, Maddy asserts that there was no animosity between any of the teams and “everyone was in high spirits”.
“At the end of the day, even though stuff obviously happened throughout the season, I think everyone just wanted everyone to do well and wanted the best for everyone. I mean, that's what we wanted going into it,” she says.

The sisters ended up winning the show after making $1.55 million at auction and received an additional $100,000 in prize money, which they admit they’re still trying to process.
“We would have been grateful with anything,” Maddy remarks. “I think this is such a cool opportunity and it's once in a lifetime, but to be able to be so young and to win The Block was obviously a dream since we were little.
“We're thrilled with how it worked out, and we're just honestly so glad that everyone did so well. I think it makes winning even sweeter when everyone else also got life-changing amounts of money and can now do amazing things for their family and lives.”
