The Block star barely recognisable in sweet throwback snap: 'Really special'
EXCLUSIVE: Shelley Craft reflects on one of the ‘greatest times’ in her life.
The Block fans were sent down memory lane this week when the series aired a throwback photo of the show’s co-host Shelley Craft from over two decades ago. Long before she joined the popular renovation reality program in 2011, the TV star hosted Saturday Disney from 1996 to 2002 on Channel Seven.
Shelley poked fun at her previous gig when speaking to the contestants in Wednesday night’s episode about their upcoming task to renovate a room in the Disney+ Clubhouse, which will take place in the final week of the competition. After Kristian and Mimi were designated the cinema space to transform, Mimi admitted she was thrilled because Disney+ is her favourite subscription service and “Disney is [her] life”.

“Disney’s my life,” Shelley responded before a photo from her Saturday Disney era popped up on screen alongside Mickey Mouse ears and the classic ‘When You Wish Upon A Star’ instrumental.
Fans took to social media following the brief mention to reminisce about Saturday Disney, with one viewer saying the photo was a “nice flashback for the elder millennials”.
Shelley reflects on 'extraordinary' experience
Shelley tells Yahoo Lifestyle she’s always thrilled whenever Saturday Disney is mentioned as the experience will forever hold a special place in her heart.
“I know from all the Disney hosts, that they were the greatest times of our lives,” she gushes. “We had a ball bringing the show to all of you, and I know it holds a really special place in all the presenters’ hearts.
“We had some fun times and to be there with kids that have now grown up and have their own families, it’s quite extraordinary meeting all the Disney fans out there. But it was a cracking show, so I know we had a lot of great fans and I still love you all very, very much!”

This week’s walkthrough wasn’t the first time Saturday Disney has been brought up on The Block, as contestant Ricky admitted to Shelley early in the season that she was his “celebrity crush” growing up.
The plumber told Yahoo Lifestyle he was starstruck when he first met the TV personality during filming and was thrilled to discover that she’s a “fantastic person” in real life.
“She's so lovely,” he remarked. “That was probably a bit of a moment for me. I was like, wow, I’m actually rubbing shoulders and I'm actually talking to her. It was a bit of a moment, for sure.”
Meanwhile, Shelley tells Yahoo Lifestyle that she thought Ricky’s admission was very sweet, adding with a laugh: “I think Ricky was probably eight when I was on the show! So yes, look, thank you, Ricky. It did make me blush, at first.”
