Fuelling his adventurous spirit, he hit the road in an old four-wheel drive soon after to explore the vast expanse of Australia. After gaining valuable experience from various jobs during a five-year stint, Scott embraced his building roots and took a leap of faith to establish his own company in 1990.

During one of his brief visits home, fate intervened as he met his now-wife Ann, and together, they call Sydney home with their three children, Charlie, and twins Sarah and Bill.

The pivotal moment that altered Cam's trajectory from tradie to TV star occurred when a persistent producer named Stuart Clark approached him at the pub while Cam was having an after-work drink.

"This fella came up to me in the pub one arvo and says: 'Do you want to do a screen test for a TV show we're doing?' Initially, I thought he was joking and said 'No, I'm right thanks mate!'" Cam explained in a blog post on his website.

Clark was determined to cast Cam for the show Backyard Blitz and pursued him over several beers. His perseverance paid off, and the rest, as they say, is history. Scott's television career truly took off in 2000 when he appeared on the show alongside Jamie Durie.

He continued to make a name for himself on shows like Renovation Rescue and Domestic Blitz before landing the hosting gig for The Block in 2010. Since then, he has become an integral part of the show, guiding and mentoring the competing couples.

Scott's success on The Block has earned him prestigious accolades, including the Silver Logie for Most Popular Presenter and the coveted Gold Logie for Most Popular Australian TV Personality in 2014.

Cam has also written two books on building and renovating, Home Maintenance for Knuckleheads (2003) and Out the Back (2004). In 2017, he released his third book, Scotty’s Top Aussie Sheds (2017), featuring a spectacular line-up of some of the nation’s best backyard sheds.
