SZA to Release New ‘Lana’ Songs During the Super Bowl
SZA isn’t done with fine-tuning “Lana,” the deluxe version of her blockbuster sophomore album “SOS” that released in December.
The singer, poised to perform with Kendrick Lamar at the Super Bowl Halftime Show on Sunday, will honor her appearance by adding new songs to the album. She revealed the news on the landing page of her official site, stating that the new songs will drop on Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. ET, just a half-hour after the big game kicks off.

SZA previously promised that an updated version of “Lana” would arrive on Jan. 6, though that date came and went. After one fan called her “unprofessional” on social media, SZA responded, “Cause sample clearances always happen within the preferred time frame lmao? I shoulda NEVER tried to give yall what u asked for . It wasn’t professional . It was KINDNESS AND A WILLINGNESS TO APPEASE u lunatics.”
“Lana” had a long road to release, with SZA first mentioning the deluxe edition of “SOS” in Dec. 2022. Over the next few years, she teased the album and previewed new songs at shows. At one point, she even scrapped it after a few songs leaked to the web.
“So we’ll make this really simple. Y’all leaked 3 songs from the deluxe. Atp y’all can keep the throw aways and leaks,” she tweeted in March 2024. “I’ll be starting LANA from scratch do not ask me about it again. Thank you 🫶🏾🙏🏾💗.”
SZA finally put out the 15-track “SOS” extension at the end of the year, reclaiming the top spot on the Billboard 200 with 178,000 units moved. Official streams of the project climbed to 200 million.
