These days, there are very few tasks in life that haven't been made easier thanks to some sort of gadget or hack. As people have quickly discovered, many of those gadgets can be found at Kmart.

Need to keep quickly and easily shred a roast chicken from Woolies? There's a Kmart chicken shredder for that. Want to strain your can of tuna or chickpeas with ease? There's a Kmart gadget for that too. Have limited bench space around your sink? You'd better believe Kmart has a fix.

However, a recent Kmart find has shoppers divided, as some say it would make a great purchase while others are nothing short of sceptical.

The gadget in question is the $10 Shower Phone Holder - because, apparently, that is now a thing we need.

Oh So Busy Mum recently shared the find on her popular Facebook page, captioning the photo: "Kmart, I have questions."

Her followers also had questions - but more than that, they had opinions.

"I donā€™t trust Anko that much," one person quipped while someone else wrote, "Imagine putting your trust in this, and the phone falls in the water, and it's dead."

"There is a real problem if [you] canā€™t even have a shower without your phone these days," another chided. "Honestly, what is the world coming to?"

"Reallyā€¦we canā€™t have a shower now without our phones. This is a joke right?," was another comment. "If someone phones and you are in the shower, chances are they will either phone back or leave a message. How the hell did my mother ever survive I wonder?"

"My daughter has long enough showers now!" someone else added. "She'd never come out & our water bill would be through the roof."

Water usage and bills were certainly at the forefront of people's minds in the comments as many expressed horror at the idea of being in the shower long enough to warrant needing a phone in the first place.

"Am I literally the only one that thinks this is wild? Iā€™m in & out of the shower within 4 minutes, wash hair body etc & out?," someone asked. "Or maybe Iā€™m just crazy about my water bill."

"Who has this much time in the shower?... clearly not on tank water," another asked.

"Seriously, why encourage more water waste suggesting phone time in the showers?," yet another person added. "Get in there, wash yourself and get the heck out. Even if you don't have other family to consider needing the hot water or care about the environment, perhaps consider if you trust a brand such as Anko to protect a device of approx $2000 in value or even just think of the money saved on your water bill."

"I'm now curious as to how long do people shower!," someone else said. "Being water conscious, if I'm longer than 5 minutes then I've fallen over and need help! Couldn't imagine the water bill or thought of being in shower long enough to actually watch something (other than an advert!)"

"Did no one else grow up in drought where we were constantly told to have 2 minute showers?!," someone else said.

Content creator Nectorious Papi, who usually reviews food items also made a video about the gadget, calling it "too much."

Despite this, many people did offer reasons for why the shower phone holder might not be such a bad idea.

"I watch shows in the shower. Some days, it's the only 'me time' I get, and my shows aren't suitable to have on in front of my kids. My phone is waterproof, and I use a phone holder from Amazon that just sticks to the tiles," was one reply.

"I'm thinking about one of those pain flare-ups that has you living under the hot water for a shred of relief. This would be handier than using a ziplock bag to make the time a bit more bearable," another shopper suggested.

"Great for having a newborn . Can keep the baby cameras in sight while getting some me time," was another use.

Many people also said that the phone holder would be good for people with sensory issues who need something to help make taking showers more bearable.

"It's actually really useful for people who have sensory issues with water like my daughter who has her iPad in the bathroom playing whatever she is currently watching to help distract her from the actual task of showering," one parent explained.

"This is a great idea! Additional needs kids can have a time timer in there," another offered.

"My son has autism and has to have sounds playing in the background whilst he showers," yet another said. "He says he can't hear it outside the shower, so we use this for a phone with sound. He's broken the waterproof radios we've gotten."

Another wrote, "This would be brilliant for my ASD daughter. She likes to watch YouTube in the shower, and it distracts her when I wash her hair etc."

Meanwhile, several other people chimed in with a worst-case scenario:

"Omg, imagine accidentally video calling someone."
