Sunrise host Katie Brown shares brutal reality of breakfast TV job: 'Crazy'

The reporter opened up about her sleep schedule and how she stays energised in the morning.

Sunrise’s Katie Brown has given her followers an insight into what a day in the life of a breakfast TV presenter looks like.

The 32-year-old journalist, who joined the Channel Seven program in January last year, took to her Instagram Story on Tuesday to share her daily schedule including two interstate flights and multiple interviews.

Her day kicked off with a 3:30am wake-up after staying up until midnight having a movie marathon, and she presented the sport on Sunrise from 5:30am.

She then flew to Brisbane at 9am, had six interviews at 11am, attended a “gorgeous buffet lunch” at noon, and flew back to Sydney at 3pm.

“Bedtime coming right up!” she captioned a photo of herself giving a thumbs up in an Uber at 6pm.

Katie followed up the post by adding that she had taken two plane naps - “Sorry not sorry if you saw me drool,” she joked - and explained that her schedule isn’t always this jam-packed.

“This ain’t my everyday. Just a ballistic, fun, crazy kinda day,” she wrote. “2024 lessgooooo.”

On Wednesday, Katie answered a series of questions from her followers on Instagram including one about how she stays energised with such a busy schedule.

“I drink coffee and I have a nap during the day,” she shared. “If I’m in studio and I need to be pumped up, my boss will be in my ear pumping me up. Or I’ll do a bit of a stretch or I’ll yawn really loud or I’ll sing a few lines from a song.

“But I don’t always have a lot of energy. My family and my boyfriend and my friends will definitely know that I’ve probably got a bit of a shorter temper with the early morning starts. Because if I don’t have a nap then I catch myself out being annoyed with things that wouldn’t generally annoy me.”

She also shared that she naps “most days” and the early starts don’t bother her as much as others might think they would.

Katie tipped for a major promotion on Sunrise

While Katie was initially hired on Sunrise as a roving reporter, she’s taken on several different positions in recent months.

In November she filled in for weatherman Sam Mac while he was on paternity leave, and she sat in Mark Beretta’s seat over the holiday period while he temporarily hosted the show alongside Edwina Bartholomew.

It’s been reported that Katie is currently being trained to step into Mark’s role as sports presenter on the breakfast show once his newly signed two-year contract ends in 2025.

“Katie is just a country kid who appeals to all audiences for her no-nonsense style,” a source told Woman’s Day.
