The Project host calls out Sunrise star Nat Barr's bizarre jab at Sam Mac

The presenter joked that Sam Mac might need a restraining order over Nat Barr.

The Project host Dave Thornton poked fun at Sunrise's Nat Barr on Tuesday night after she made a bizarre jab at her colleague Sam Mac live on-air.

The weather presenter, who recently returned to the breakfast show after taking time off to enjoy paternity leave, participated in a knife-throwing act while reporting from The Pink Flamingo in Brisbane.

Sam initially watched Romanian husband and wife duo Oana and Larry perform the “very dangerous act” before being asked to participate himself.

While he was clearly hesitant to stand against the wooden board and have knives thrown at him, Nat gleefully watched on from Brekky Central.

“Do it, do it, do it. Stab him, stab him - no,” she joked, shocking her co-host Matt Shirvington while someone off-camera laughed in surprise.

Speaking about the moment on The Project, Dave suggested there may be some behind-the-scenes tension between Nat and Sam.

“Guys, I get it, it’s early, it’s live TV and sometimes you just say whatever comes to mind,” the comedian remarked. “However, this Sam Mac interview with a knife thrower has made one thing clear: he may need a restraining order over Nat Barr.

“‘Stab him!’. He’s the weatherman, whether he’ll live or not, who knows how this is gonna work out.”

Nat's major royal blunder

The hilarious moment comes just a couple of weeks after The Project panel reacted to Nat Barr’s major blunder about the British royal family on Sunrise.

The Channel Seven star made an unfortunate gaffe while reporting about the two senior royals that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry alleged in 2021 had shared concerns about their unborn son's skin colour.

When introducing a clip of the moment on The Project, comedian Sam Taunton told viewers to prepare themselves for what he described as “the wildest slip of the tongue you’ll ever see”.

“While covering those members of the royal family being named as racist on Sunrise this morning, Nat mistakenly threw an extra bombshell accusation into the mix,” he said.

The Channel 10 program then aired footage of Nat saying the word ‘rapists’ instead of ‘racists’ during her live TV interview.

“So this has these two names, the two alleged rapists in this book,” she said.

Nat then paused and appeared to listen to producers in her earpiece point out her mistake, which her co-host Matt ‘Shirvo’ Shirvington also corrected her on.

“Racists, sorry,” she said before continuing.
