Sunrise viewers call for fill-in hosts to be made permanent: 'Great team'
Fans are loving the show’s fill-in presenters while Nat and Shirvo are away.
Sunrise viewers tuning into the breakfast show this week have seen a very different line-up of presenters as regular hosts Natalie Barr and Matt ‘Shirvo’ Shirvington are currently on Christmas break.
Newsreader Edwina ‘Eddy’ Bartholomew and sports presenter Mark Beretta have stepped up and taken on a more prominent role over the holiday period alongside Weekend Sunrise star Sally Bowrey and roving reporter Katie Brown.
Eddy took to social media on Thursday to share a selfie with the new group, which fans have labelled ‘The B Team’ because of their surnames.
“Brown, Beretta, Bartholomew and Bowrey at your service for this Boxing Day week on @sunriseon7,” she captioned the snap.

Viewers are clearly loving the fresh line-up of hosts, with many people saying they want to see the group permanently host Sunrise.
“Wish this was the team every morning of the year,” one person wrote, while another added, “Great team should be on permanent”.
“You make a great team… So natural and a pleasure to watch,” a third remarked, followed by someone else who said, “Love all the personalities and the team is so interchangeable”.
“Gee you guys are fun to watch, it’s really refreshing seeing you all interact with each other, keep up the good work,” a different user replied.
Others added that Sunrise’s fill-in hosts are “so much better” than Dr Nick Coatsworth and Mia Glover, who are currently replacing Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo on Channel Nine's rival breakfast show Today.
“First time in a long time that I’ve switched over,” one viewer shared.
Sunrise star tipped for major promotion
Roving reporter Katie Brown’s appearance on the Sunrise desk over the holiday period comes after reports that she has a big year ahead of her on Channel Seven.
It’s believed that the 32-year-old journalist is currently being trained to step into Mark Beretta’s role as sports presenter on the breakfast show once his newly signed two-year contract ends in 2025.
“Katie is just a country kid who appeals to all audiences for her no-nonsense style,” a source told Woman’s Day.

The insider added that “a few people behind the scenes have quietly voiced that Mark's flashy lifestyle might not always resonate with viewers”.
“The irony in all of this is that Beretta is one of Katie's biggest supporters and has almost been a mentor to her,” they continued.
