As if Married At First Sight isn’t already dramatic enough, the upcoming 2025 season of the reality show looks set to feature a royal cameo. Queen Camilla unexpectedly crashed filming in Sydney on Tuesday morning during her royal tour of Australia with King Charles.

As the cast was getting ready to film the final dinner party of the season in their apartments at OneGlobal Resorts in Green Square, production was interrupted by the sound of sirens. They quickly discovered that the Queen was visiting Green Square library, which is directly next door, to speak with local school children about books and writing.

A production source tells Yahoo Lifestyle: “All of the cast were filming on their iPhones and producers quickly repositioned the camera crew to get footage. They know it’d be ratings gold to try and feature a royal onto the show somehow.”

Iwan Sunito, the CEO of OneGlobal, shared footage of the cast’s building being surrounded by spectators as she eventually left the library, writing: “The Queen of England came to @oneglobalresorts Green Square… hahaha”

This wouldn’t be the first time Queen Camilla has made a cameo on an Australian reality show, as she and King Charles appeared on MasterChef Australia in 2018.

The then-Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall were a part of ‘Royal Week’ where the season 10 contestants had to cook for 150 of their guests at the Royal Flying Doctor Service base in Darwin.

MasterChef judges Gary Mehigan, Matt Preston and George Calombaris also spoke to His Royal Highness about local, sustainable food and how the contestants had been cooking throughout the evening.

Viewers were left confused during the episode, however, when they noticed Charles didn’t eat a single item of food. This was likely because there are quite a few rules royals need to follow when it comes to what they can and can’t eat, including being banned from eating shellfish due to the risk of food poisoning.

Regardless of whether Queen Camilla makes an appearance on the upcoming twelfth season of MAFS, the 2025 offering is tipped to be one of the show’s most controversial to date.

Since filming commenced in July, producers have been left scrambling after six cast members quit in the first two weeks, others were photographed fleeing the show’s apartment building, and exes were “accidentally” matched together. Yet despite all of this, Yahoo Lifestyle can reveal that the show’s bosses are on track to deliver what could be the social experiment’s happiest endings to date.

As production now nears its end in Sydney with the final couples preparing for their Final Wow ceremonies, it’s understood there is a “record-breaking” number of pairs still together.

“Everyone thought this season was a lost cause but a surprising amount of couples have really pulled through and made it to the end of the experiment,” an insider told us.

Photos obtained by Yahoo Lifestyle even show the remaining couples looking happier than ever, suggesting this year’s pairs may be more genuine than matches on previous seasons who were accused of “faking it for airtime”.
