The upcoming season of Married At First Sight is tipped to be one of the reality show’s most controversial to date, with the 2025 offering having faced multiple scandals throughout production. Since filming commenced in July, producers have been left scrambling after six cast members quit in the first two weeks, others were photographed fleeing the show’s apartment building, and exes were “accidentally” matched together.

Yet despite all of this, Yahoo Lifestyle can reveal that the show’s bosses are on track to deliver what could be one of the social experiment’s happiest endings to date. As production now nears its end in Sydney with the final couples preparing for their Final Wow ceremonies, it’s understood there is a “record-breaking” number of pairs still together.

“Everyone thought this season was a lost cause but a surprising amount of couples have really pulled through and made it to the end of the experiment,” an insider tells us.

Photos obtained by Yahoo Lifestyle even show the remaining couples looking happier than ever, suggesting this year’s pairs may be more genuine than matches on previous seasons who were accused of “faking it for airtime”.

Yahoo Lifestyle revealed earlier this year that the upcoming season of MAFS has seen two exes ‘accidentally’ matched by the experts - with nobody realising the monumental mistake until the pair met down the aisle while filming their TV wedding.

Former Neighbours actor Jeff Gobbels and fitness influencer Rhi Disljenkovic, both based in Melbourne, were shocked when they were unexpectedly reunited on the set of the reality show.

After turning around to get his first look at his new ‘bride’, Jeff appeared surprised and said “Hey Rhi” before she had even introduced herself. Rhi was then seen explaining their connection to a producer off-camera after tying the knot.

A source tells us that the pair were seeing each other this time last year after being introduced by a mutual friend, Australian Survivor star and football presenter Abbey Holmes, but “never became official”. Instagram posts shared during their time together show Jeff interacting with all of Rhi’s stunning selfies.

Since parting ways, the pair “have kept in touch” and both still attend the same group classes at their shared gym, Hurt Locker Richmond. Yahoo Lifestyle can reveal that they also still followed each other on Instagram before their MAFS wedding.
