Yahoo Lifestyle Peso Pluma Drops New Single, ‘Gervonta’
Peso Pluma’s new single “Gervonta” was officially released on Thursday. Anchored in the style of música Mexicana that helped launched his career, “Gervonta” sees Pluma aggressively rapping over a progression of guitars and trumpets. He calls himself a “fish in the ocean,” comparing his fast-paced lifestyle to infamous figures like Al Capone.
The song is named after Gervonta Bryant Davis, also known as the American professional boxer “Tank.” Since the beginning of his ascent to fame, wrestling has been a central theme of Pluma’s artist project (his name translates to featherweight). He told Variety about referencing Ric Flair in his song “Ice,” “Ric Flair was a big inspiration for me growing up, watching WWE and watching the drip that he had and the luxury things that he showed us.”

This is Pluma’s first solo single following his participation in numerous other artist projects — including new albums from Myke Towers and Tito Double P — and his own effort, “Éxodo.” Released this summer, the double album was nominated for a Grammy at the 2025 awards show and topped Spotify’s Global Top Albums and U.S. Top Albums charts upon its release. It also topped the Billboard 200, peaking at No. 5. The 24-song LP featured Cardi B, Anitta, Quavo, Kenia Os and many more.
Spotify revealed he was the seventh most-streamed artist globally, joining a list that includes Taylor Swift and Bad Bunny among numerous other acts.
Peso supported the release of the album with a tour across North America. Produced by Live Nation, the arena trek included more than 35 shows, with stops in New York, Miami, Dallas, Las Vegas, San Diego and more before wrapping earlier this October.
