A pizza debate has the nation divided over whether the office pizza party is a just token gesture from your boss or a way of really rewarding your hard work.

Social media is flooded with memes of people eating pizza at the office instead of getting a bonus or pay rise for their achievements.

In response, Crust Pizza has come up with a new initiative to recognise and reward hardworking Australians on National Pizza Day this Sunday.

The national chain has 10 bonuses worth $1000 each up for grabs for people who are nominated by themselves or a colleague with a heartfelt or entertaining story about why they deserve recognition and a National Pizza Day bonus.

Crust marketing manager Zak Marr said the initiative reimagined National Pizza Day in a fun way that gives a nod to workplace appreciation.

“We know that a little bit of recognition can go a long way,” he said.

“So, for National Pizza Day this year we want to level up our appreciation for our amazing customers beyond the pizza parties we fuel nationwide.

“Whether it’s a pizza party in the office, at home or on the green, you can eat your pizza and feel recognised with our Crust National Pizza Day Bonus.

“It’s our way of recognising moments and people worthy of sharing.”

Crust Pizza specialist recruiter Tammie Christofis Ballis said she was fully behind the initiative and explains why the office pizza party should be kept on the monthly agenda.

“As a recruiter I have met incredible employers who understand the need for real, authentic and impressive, inspirational workplace culture, and they often throw a pizza party as a way to celebrate, recognise and strengthen the team spirit,” she said.

“Crust is putting its money where its mouth is by using fun and purpose to bridge the gap between feel-good work moments and genuine employee recognition.”
