Meghan Markle drops trailer for new Netflix series with surprise cameos

One day after making her return to social media, Meghan Markle has officially announced her new Netflix series With Love, Meghan. The eight-episode lifestyle series, which premieres on January 15, “reimagines the genre of lifestyle programming” as the Duchess of Sussex shares her favourite tips for cooking, gardening, crafting and more alongside celebrity guests.

Meghan took to Instagram on Friday morning to share the first trailer for the long-awaited series, which she executive produced as part of her $100 million Netflix content deal with Prince Harry.

Which celebrity guests appear in With Love, Meghan?

Set to The Lovin' Spoonful's ‘Do You Believe in Magic’, the trailer shows Meghan in Montecito, California as she cooks in the kitchen, arranges flowers, harvests honey and makes candles while hosting famous friends such as Mindy Kaling, Roy Choi, Alice Waters and her former Suits co-star Abigail Spencer.

Prince Harry also makes a small cameo in the trailer as he and Meghan hug while entertaining outdoors.

“I’ve always loved taking something pretty ordinary and elevating it. Surprising people with moments that let them know I was really thinking of them,” she says in a voiceover.

“This is about connecting with friends, making new friends and just learning. We’re not in the pursuit of perfection, we’re in the pursuit of joy.”

Fans divided over new series

While Meghan turned comments off on her Instagram post, many people took to Netflix's profile to express their excitement over the new series.

“Can’t wait to watch, looks incredible!” one fan wrote, while another added, “Wow what a great series for the new year”.

“What a thrill to have Her Royal Highness the Duchess back on our screens. It will be a fantastic year,” a third replied, followed by someone else who said, “THIS IS MY MARTHA STEWART!!!! I need cooking book, I need cooking show, gardening show, etc”.

“Now this is the right way to kick off 2025. Can’t wait to binge this!” a different user replied.

Like anything the former actress does nowadays, the trailer also copped backlash from angry fans who criticised the comparisons to Martha Stewart and questioned why she wanted to re-enter the spotlight.

“So this is Meghan who wanted privacy and normal life?” one person remarked, with another adding, “I thought they wanted a quiet life out of the spotlight? So confused!”.

“Oh good grief is she trying to be Martha Stewart. The problem is she is not likeable,” someone else commented, followed by a different user who said, “This looks insufferable. A Martha Stewart wannabe and no self-awareness.”

When does With Love, Meghan premiere?

With Love, Meghan is set to premiere on January 15, with all eight episodes dropping on Netflix on the same day.
