Yahoo Lifestyle Maurice Compte, Danay Garcia & Cary Elwes Join Peacock Crime Thriller ‘M.I.A.’ As Series Regulars
EXCLUSIVE: Maurice Compte (Narcos, Hotel Cocaine), Danay Garcia (Fear of the Walking Dead, Prison Break) and Cary Elwes (Saw) have joined the series regular cast of Peacock’s upcoming South Florida-set crime thriller M.I.A. from Ozark co-creator Bill Dubuque.
Compte, Garcia and Elwes join the previously announced series leads Shannon Gisela, who plays ‘Etta Tiger Jonze,’ Brittany Adebumola, who plays ‘Lovely’ and Dylan Jackson, who plays ‘Stanley.’ The new trios’ character names are under wraps.

Running drugs is a family affair for Etta Tiger Jonze (Gisela) in M.I.A. But when the family business is threatened, she is thrust into a life she never expected, forcing her to use her wits to survive as she navigates Miami’s criminal underground.
MIA is the airport code for Miami. The SoFla area consists of Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe counties.
Dubuque will write Episode 101 and executive produce alongside showrunner Karen Campbell and Alethea Jones who will also direct. The studio is MRC.
M.I.A. is the latest series to cover SoFla’s seedy underbelly including Chris Brancato’s Hotel Cocaine for MGM+ and two Netflix series: the Sofia Vergara-led Griselda and the early seasons of Narcos focused on Pablo Escobar, both with executive producers including Eric Newman, Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard. Narcos was co-created by Brancato. Showtime’s original Dexter series was also famously set in Miami.
Miami native Compte co-executive produced the MGM+ series Hotel Cocaine, based on the true life story of his father Roman Compte. Most recently, he has recurred on the Prime Video series Bosch: Legacy and NBC’s Law & Order: SVU. Previously, he had a leading role in FX’s hit motorcycle drama Mayans M.C. in the Season 1 role of ‘Kevin Jimenez.’ In Netflix’s Narcos, Compte played ‘Colonel Horacio Carillo,’ Pablo Escobar’s relentless nemesis. Additional TV credits include Power for Starz, Netflix’s Narcos, AMC’s Breaking Bad and FOX’s 24. On the big screen, Compte portrayed the menacing villain ‘Big Evil’ Flores in End of Watch, as “Benny ‘Borracho’ Magalon” in Den of Thieves opposite Gerard Butler and ‘Sapo’ in David Ayers’ Sabotage. He is repped by Gersh and Zero Gravity Management.
Garcia is best known for playing ‘Sofia Lugo’ in Fox’s Prison Break and ‘Luciana Galvez in AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead. Additional TV credits include appearances in CSI: Miami, The Cleaner, Supernatural and Hawaii Five-0. She made her acting debut in the 2006 psychological thriller Danika working alongside Marisa Tomei. Her film credits also include From Mexico with Love and Liz in September. She is repped by Innovative Artists and Mosaic.
Elwes most recently starred in Guy Ritchie’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare and Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1 on the big screen, and the Paramount+ series Knuckles created by John Whittington and Toby Ascher. He is best known for playing ‘Westley’ in Rob Reiner’s The Princess Bride and the titular role in Mel Brooks’ Robin Hood: Men in Tights. Elwes also brought to life the character of Lawrence Gordon in the hit horror franchise Saw. He recently completed work in Gus Van Zant’s Dead Man’s Wire opposite Colman Domingo, Al Pacino and Bill Skarsgaard. He is repped by IAG, Link Entertainment, attorney Lev Ginsburg and Hamilton Hodell in the U.K.
