Meghan Markle’s Most Ludicrous Lifestyle Hack Gets Hilariously Mocked On ‘Tonight Show’
Meghan Markle has a pretzel hack so twisted that people are having a hard time wrapping their heads around it — including Jimmy Fallon.
On Wednesday night’s episode of “The Tonight Show,” host Fallon and the show’s announcer Steve Higgins took some time to openly mock one of the Duchess of Sussex’s lifestyle tips that has become a joke on social media.
In Episode 1 of the Netflix series “With Love, Meghan,” the duchess can be seen creating a welcome basket for a house guest. The “Suits” alum decides to add some late-night munchies to the basket, which includes a bag of homemade popcorn and another bag of store-bought pretzel nuggets that have peanut butter inside. Although it made sense for the duchess to put the homemade popcorn in a clear bag, since she popped it at home, it felt incredibly asinine that she also decides to transfer the peanut butter pretzel nuggets from their clearly labeled bag into another clear bag with a handwritten label that reads “peanut butter” because, as the duchess says in the show, “you always want to be conscious if someone has a nut allergy.”
The silly move has been trashed on X, formerly Twitter, for weeks.
“I’m so glad Meghan Markle has a new show on Netflix where I can watch her take pretzels out of a labeled bag and put them into a new bag…then label it. The people’s Martha Stewart!” one X user joked.
“In Meghan Markle’s Netflix cookery series, she teaches us mere mortals how to transfer pretzels from one bag into another. Several sources say both Mary Berry and Prue Leith have resigned from their own shows for not thinking of this genius method first,” another X user cracked.
Well, it seems on Wednesday night it was Fallon and Higgins’ turn to get in on the pretzel joke — and they gobbled it up.
During a trivia game at the top of the show, Higgins asked Fallon a series of pop culture questions and one of them were: “What is the No. 1 question that mystifies scientists?”
“Is there life on another planet?” Fallon asked in response.
“Oh, no,” Higgins said before reading the answer on his card. “[It’s] why does Meghan Markle make her own pretzel bags?”
“That’s interesting,” Fallon said jokingly. “She takes them from one bag and puts them in another bag and it confuses people.”
The pretzel fiasco hasn’t been the only weird moment featured on the duchess’ lifestyle series. Meghan also got a bit salty with comedian Mindy Kaling in Episode 2 for referring to her as “Meghan Markle” rather than “Meghan Sussex” — as if an American would naturally understand the complicated intricacies of the British monarchy’s title system.
“It’s so funny too, that you keep saying ‘Meghan Markle.’ You know I’m Sussex now,” Meghan firmly told Kaling during Episode 2.
It’s unclear how Kaling actually responded to Meghan in the moment because the show just plows along to offer Meghan’s reasoning behind using her title as a last name.
“You have kids and you go, ‘No, I share my name with my children.’ And that feels so — I didn’t know how meaningful it would be to me. But it just means so much to go, ’This is our family name, our little family name,’” she said.
Clearly not knowing how to respond to this, Kaling kept her response simple and supportive.
“Well, now I know. And I love it,” Kaling said.
