MAFS experts reveal their most memorable participants of all time: 'So genuine'

Out of 11 seasons of Married At First Sight there have been plenty of memorable (and let’s face it, not-so-memorable) participants who have walked down the aisle to tie the knot with a complete stranger.

While fans have been quite outspoken on social media about their favourite cast members, including Cyrell Paule, Jules Robinson and Lizzie Sobinoff, the show’s experts have now shared their thoughts.

Sexologist Alessandra Rampolla, who joined the show’s eighth season in 2021, tells Yahoo Lifestyle her most memorable participant is season 11 bride Lucinda Light “for all the right reasons”.

“Lucinda Light is the light. She is so lovely and she is so genuine and so consistent,” she remarks.

“As you saw throughout the experience, she maintained her true self and was really loyal to her true self. That's something that I admire a lot about any human being but especially about women because it is particularly difficult for many women to maintain that sense of self.

“So yes, I would say Lucinda Light. Like the rest of Australia and the world, we're all in love with Lucinda.”

Mel Schilling shouts out bride who 'changed the game'

Meanwhile, seasoned expert Mel Schilling shares that one of her most memorable participants is season five bride Davina Rankin, who was part of the show’s very first cheating scandal with Dean Wells.

“She was the first person to step out of line and cross a boundary, relationship-wise,” Mel tells Yahoo Lifestyle.

“She really did change the game and set a precedent that people don't always stay in the couples that they’re matched with. So that was definitely an important moment.”

Another participant that stands out to Mel, who has appeared on the show since season two in 2016, is season five groom and self-proclaimed ‘world’s hardest tooth brusher’ Troy Delmege.

“I think there's been some really funny moments. The guy who cleaned his teeth, Troy, was memorable for a bit of humour,” she remarks. “There’s definitely been some funny guys over the years.”
