MAFS couple reveal talks to appear on The Block: 'Set to go'
EXCLUSIVE: Jules Robinson and Cam Merchant finally address the long-standing rumour.
Theyâre two of the most beloved participants to have ever appeared on Married At First Sight, and it turns out Jules Robinson and Cam Merchant almost took part in another popular reality show. The pair, who welcomed their second child together just last month, were matched by the experts on the sixth season of MAFS and have since become the blueprint for a successful couple in the experiment.
Following their life-changing TV experience and real-life wedding in 2019, multiple media outlets reported that Jules and Cam were set to appear on another Channel Nine reality series: The Block. While the rumours never eventuated and the couple didnât address the speculation at the time, theyâve finally confirmed to Yahoo Lifestyle that they were almost cast on the renovation program.
âThey interviewed us and we dabbled the idea, but I just had [our son] Ollie and the timings in life weren't right,â Jules shares. âWe had the interview and I was just like, âNah, this is not for usâ.â

The entrepreneur also jokes that she and Cam âwould end up in divorceâ if they ever went on The Block, adding: âThe network that brought us together would end up breaking us!
âI might kill Cam if I ever was to do something like that,â she laughs. âHeâd be dancing around, filming and making stupid videos and Iâd literally be the one doing everything. That is reality.
âIâd look like the b***h wife of Australia!â
Cam admits he was 'ready' to go on The Block
Although his life might've been on the line, Cam admits he was âwilling to risk that for the opportunityâ and had even been asking their friends and two-time Block contestants Mitch Edwards and Mark McKie for advice.
âI was set to go, I was ready!â he shares. âI literally took up my training to a whole new level, talking to Mitch and Mark about carrying and shovelling and doing whatever I possibly could.
âBut Ollie was just a bit too young because they wanted to obviously play by the rules and we couldn't be off-site with Ollie.â
Jules adds that their friendships with former contestants have given them a greater understanding of just how hard The Block is, and theyâre open to taking part in the future.
âWe're very, very good friends with Mitch and Mark and they're like, âIt's so hard!â,â she remarks. âIt's no easy feat doing The Block, everyone knows that now. You earn every cent that you make on there.
âI mean, never say never! But at that time, it was just the impossible.â
Jules and Cam team up with Block royalty
Jules and Cam have recently teamed up with last yearâs winners of The Block, Steph and Gian Ottavio, for their brand new reality show across social media called Renovate Me Please!.
The feel-good content series follows the quartet as they transform guests from the inside out, with Jules taking on the role of style and makeover queen, Cam acting as the health and wellness coach, and Steph and Gian serving as renovation experts. Jules and Cam admit itâs been incredible working with the couple and they love their âholistic approachâ to transforming a space.
âTheyâre all about scent and smelling something that makes you walk into a room and be like, âOh I love the smell in here, it makes me feel really glamorousâ or whatever,â she details.
âAnd I just think they're not styling people out of their style as well, which has been a really nice thing to do. You don't want to change someone, you just want to enhance who they are, and I think that's been a really nice approach that they have.â

âThey also have a genuine passion for helping people and transforming,â Cam adds. âYou just see it when you talk to them. They are all in and they absolutely love it, so that combination with the passions that we have just works really well.â
The series, which is created and produced by Liz Courtney and Kylie Green, is the first reality series in Australia to launch on social media with new episodes dropping every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
