They’re two of the most beloved participants to have ever appeared on Married At First Sight, and it turns out Jules Robinson and Cam Merchant almost took part in another popular reality show. The pair, who welcomed their second child together just last month, were matched by the experts on the sixth season of MAFS and have since become the blueprint for a successful couple in the experiment.

Following their life-changing TV experience and real-life wedding in 2019, multiple media outlets reported that Jules and Cam were set to appear on another Channel Nine reality series: The Block. While the rumours never eventuated and the couple didn’t address the speculation at the time, they’ve finally confirmed to Yahoo Lifestyle that they were almost cast on the renovation program.

“They interviewed us and we dabbled the idea, but I just had [our son] Ollie and the timings in life weren't right,” Jules shares. “We had the interview and I was just like, ‘Nah, this is not for us’.”

The entrepreneur also jokes that she and Cam “would end up in divorce” if they ever went on The Block, adding: “The network that brought us together would end up breaking us!

“I might kill Cam if I ever was to do something like that,” she laughs. “He’d be dancing around, filming and making stupid videos and I’d literally be the one doing everything. That is reality.

“I’d look like the b***h wife of Australia!”

Although his life might've been on the line, Cam admits he was “willing to risk that for the opportunity” and had even been asking their friends and two-time Block contestants Mitch Edwards and Mark McKie for advice.

“I was set to go, I was ready!” he shares. “I literally took up my training to a whole new level, talking to Mitch and Mark about carrying and shovelling and doing whatever I possibly could.

“But Ollie was just a bit too young because they wanted to obviously play by the rules and we couldn't be off-site with Ollie.”

Jules adds that their friendships with former contestants have given them a greater understanding of just how hard The Block is, and they’re open to taking part in the future.

“We're very, very good friends with Mitch and Mark and they're like, ’It's so hard!’,” she remarks. “It's no easy feat doing The Block, everyone knows that now. You earn every cent that you make on there.

“I mean, never say never! But at that time, it was just the impossible.”

Jules and Cam have recently teamed up with last year’s winners of The Block, Steph and Gian Ottavio, for their brand new reality show across social media called Renovate Me Please!.

The feel-good content series follows the quartet as they transform guests from the inside out, with Jules taking on the role of style and makeover queen, Cam acting as the health and wellness coach, and Steph and Gian serving as renovation experts. Jules and Cam admit it’s been incredible working with the couple and they love their “holistic approach” to transforming a space.

“They’re all about scent and smelling something that makes you walk into a room and be like, ‘Oh I love the smell in here, it makes me feel really glamorous’ or whatever,” she details.

“And I just think they're not styling people out of their style as well, which has been a really nice thing to do. You don't want to change someone, you just want to enhance who they are, and I think that's been a really nice approach that they have.”

“They also have a genuine passion for helping people and transforming,” Cam adds. “You just see it when you talk to them. They are all in and they absolutely love it, so that combination with the passions that we have just works really well.”

The series, which is created and produced by Liz Courtney and Kylie Green, is the first reality series in Australia to launch on social media with new episodes dropping every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
