While they’ve maintained that they were never involved in a ‘cheating scandal’, there’s no denying that Adrian Araouzou and Sierah Swepstone formed a close friendship on this year’s season of Married At First Sight. The unlikely duo confided in each other about their past during Confessions Week and regularly went out for dinner together - both with and without their partners present.

Yet despite their close bond, Adrian has now revealed that he and Sierah are no longer on speaking terms after filming the reality show late last year. The controversial groom tells Yahoo Lifestyle that he ended his friendship with Sierah after an incident that will come out at the reunion.

“Me and Sierah, we don't speak. I mean, I’m not going to give away anything but people will see at the reunion,” he says.

“I’m just like, if I wouldn't treat someone like that then I'm not going to accept to be treated like that. And there were a few things that happened towards the end of the filming, and that's just the way it was.”

As for his current relationship with Sierah’s ‘husband’ Billy Belcher, Adrian says he’s definitely open to repairing things with the UK-born groom.

“Are we friends? I don't hold onto grudges,” he remarks. “He didn't like that I made a few comments, and I haven't liked a few of his comments. If I saw him, would I say hello? Yeah, 100 per cent. I actually don't want to argue with anyone on the show, I don't care.

“If he messaged me, ‘Hey bro, you wanna go for a drink?’, I’d say, ‘No worries man, let’s do it’. I don't care enough about the show to sit there and argue with someone that I do care for. And I like Billy, he’s a great guy. Genuinely he is.”

Despite what’s been hinted at on TV, Adrian asserts that he and Sierah were never romantically involved on the show and he was only ever interested in pursuing a relationship with his partner Awhina Rutene.

“There absolutely wasn't anything happening between me and Sierah,” he declares. “It was the dumbest thing, and I knew they were doing that the whole time and Sierah did as well, like the way that was gonna be portrayed.”

Adrian clarifies that his closeness with Sierah was simply him caring for someone who was “clearly visibly upset” during filming.

“People get lost in this false reality that this is just TV, but the truth is, this is not just TV. If someone’s clearly visibly upset, this is real life, and she was visibly upset,” he explains. “I saw that and I was like, well if I can do anything to help so she can get out of that situation, whether it'd been her, Billy, Awhina, Tony [Mojanovski], or whoever, I would’ve done the exact same thing.

“That's why I said at the dinner party, ‘I don't care’. I'm not saying sorry for going on a date because she needed to get out of that apartment for her own mental health. And if I could help with that, then so be it, I did.”
