The 2025 cast of Married At First Sight have signed their contracts with filming set to start in the next week or two, an insider has told Yahoo Lifestyle.

"The schedules for all the new MAFS participants have been sent and the contracts have been signed," the source confirmed, saying Channel Nine is hopeful the new cast will be 'more dynamic' with people working on the show already saying the new season of MAFS will be a refreshed approach on the long-running hit reality series.

“The 2025 relationship experts will finally have names and faces of all the 2025 cast which they will be openly discussing over the next few days," the source added. “Channel Nine are always hopeful the new cast is more dynamic and this year there is a buzz around a few of the selected couples that this next season will have Australia talking, yet again. This batch will keep the experiment fresh."

Following that, the first few weeks of weddings are due to be filmed on the Gold Coast.

“The audition process is quite long and complicated," the insider revealed. "The producers ultimately knew what they were looking for, even before meeting the first round of applicants. You want to find people who mirror current relationship issues, so people at home can see themselves in these situations."

While production is currently underway for the upcoming season, things initially didn't get off to the smoothest start according to a show insider.

Speaking with Yahoo Lifestyle, the insider said production has faced a series of setbacks over the past month which has caused major filming delays. According to our source, there have been several last-minute cast changes as participants have either dropped out or been axed for having “the wrong intentions” and being there solely to promote themselves.

Two weeks ago, one anonymous groom even took to the unofficial Married At First Sight Australia subreddit to boast of their involvement in the show and offered to leak storylines once filming kicked off. Yahoo Lifestyle understands this resulted in an “investigation” to find the aspiring influencer and remove them from the show. The Reddit thread where they detailed the various stages of the casting process and their interactions with the relationship experts has since been deleted.

“Every year as the show gets bigger it gets harder to weed out the applicants with the wrong intentions,” our source said.
