Lily Collins and Husband Charlie McDowell Share New Pics of Baby Daughter Tove: ‘Mom Mode, Dad Mode’

Lily Collins and Charlie McDowell are embracing parenthood!

Nearly a week after announcing they had welcomed a child via surrogate, the Emily in Paris actress, 35, and the filmmaker, 41, shared new photos of their newborn daughter, Tove Jane McDowell, on Thursday, Feb. 6.

McDowell was the first to post a photo of Tove by sharing an Instagram shot of himself sitting on a brown sofa. He gently held up Tove's arms as she lay on his lap on top of a blanket.

McDowell, wearing a maroon turtleneck sweater and light-washed jeans, was seen looking at his daughter in admiration.

"Dad mode ❤️," he captioned the post.

In addition to sharing the post on her Instagram Stories alongside crying eyes and red heart emojis, Collins posted her own photo with Tove on her main Instagram feed.

Her photo showed the proud mom wearing a dark crewneck sweater while carrying Tove in her arms.

"Mom mode..." she captioned the post.

The couple announced Tove's arrival in a joint Instagram post on Friday, Jan. 31, and shared what becoming parents meant to them.

“Words will never express our endless gratitude for our incredible surrogate and everyone who helped us along the way. We love you to the moon and back again,” they wrote next to a photo of Tove lying in a bassinet.

Collins and McDowell, the son of actress Mary Steenburgen and actor Malcolm McDowell, first sparked dating rumors in July 2019. A month later, they made things Instagram official when Collins shared a photo of herself with her head leaning on McDowell’s back. (Collins also has famous parentage, as her parents are Phil Collins and his second wife, Jill Tavelman.)

A little over a year later, in September 2020, Collins and McDowell announced their engagement on Instagram and married in September 2021.

Last October, McDowell, who owns the production company Case Study Films with Collins, told PEOPLE what he enjoys most about working with his wife.

“Whatever story we’re telling, it is really exciting to be able to work and be creative with your partner. It’s a really special experience," he said.

“People were warning [us] and all these things, and we didn't know what to expect," added McDowell. "It ended up being a really great experience and brought us closer together.”
