MAFS: Analysing the couple's relationships from their cryptic Instagram posts

Here's who we think is still together based on social media clues.

From the captions they write to the photos they choose, there’s a lot that can be said about what the Married At First Sight brides and grooms post on Instagram while the season airs on TV.

Just like in real life, each photo gives followers an insight into the narrative the poster wants to share with the world and who they would like to feature on their profile. Most importantly, an Instagram post can sometimes reveal whether a couple is still together by the way they refer to their partner in the caption - and whether they post about each other at all.

As the new season kicks into full gear and the couples prepare to move in together at SKYE Suites Green Square, here’s everything we’ve noticed about their relationships so far from their Instagram posts.

Lauren and Jono

Looking at Lauren’s Instagram, the Perth-based bride chose not to share any photos with Jono from her wedding day which is often a tell-tale sign of things not working out.

However, during Monday night’s episode, she posted a gallery of selfies with Jono in their hotel room as they prepared for their first dinner party together alongside the simple yet seemingly random caption: “Jono loves a mimosa.”

Meanwhile, Jono has shared double the amount of photos compared to Lauren including a cute couple shot at the dinner party.

“In a pretty good place going into tonight’s dinner party, still trying to win this one over…” he wrote, admitting that things aren’t exactly perfect between them at this time in the experiment.

If things somehow don’t work out between these two, it’s nice to see that they don’t hate each other enough to not want to post about one another on Instagram.

Sara and Tim

So far Sara’s only posted a handful of photos with Tim on Instagram, all with positive captions including various heart emojis.

Tim's also only shared two photos from MAFS on his Instagram, however, both of them are with his wife.

Based solely on their social media activity it appears these two might still be together - or at the very least, they’re good at acting like they are.

Cassandra and Tristan

Cassandra’s posts have been very complimentary of Tristan, describing him as funny, kind and smart with a “great personality”. Most recently she shared a photo from the dinner party with their arms intertwined alongside the caption: “Sugar & Spice and everything nice.”

Tristan has also had only positive things to say about Cassandra on social media and shared the same loved-up dinner party snap on his profile.

“As my lovely wifey always says… ‘Tristan iron your shirt!’. Which I respond ‘Nahhhh Cass it’s fine!’ As we can see it was not fine,” he wrote in the caption.

These two might be giving ‘friend zone’ on TV, but on social media, you’d think they’ve been together for a while.

Tori and Jack

Despite rumours that they’re still together in real life, Tori interestingly chose to post a solo dinner party photo on Monday night rather than a couple shot.

She’s only shared a handful of photos from the show in total, including a wedding snap simply captioned: “Just married!”

Meanwhile, Jack has shared four photos from the show, with only one image featuring his bride.

“Our very own BLACK cake, 100g of protein per 🖤” he captioned the photo of himself and Tori cutting their wedding cake.

While the couple may have made it to the end of the experiment together, their behaviour on social media hints that things might have changed recently.

Eden and Jayden

Eden and Jayden have definitely shared the most photos together on Instagram which is a great sign for things to come.

The fan-favourite couple gave viewers an insight into their honeymoon with a gallery of loved-up snaps holding hands, wearing matching outfits and cuddling in bed.

They also both shared a photo of themselves kissing at their wedding, which Jayden posted alongside a very sweet caption.

“An amazing wedding with an amazing woman, I can’t wait to get to know, love and cherish everything about your beautiful soul. Here’s to forever us Eden,” he wrote.

If you were feeling nervous about the future of this relationship, it seems like you can sleep well at night knowing they’re likely still together.

Lucinda and Timothy

Tristan is yet to post any photos with Lucinda on Instagram. Photo: Channel Nine

While Timothy has yet to share any photos from his MAFS experience on Instagram, which is a major red flag for the future of their relationship, Lucinda shared a sweet caption about her husband following their wedding.

“Tim, my wish is that you’re just authentically you, easy breezy nothing to prove, natural you,” she wrote. “I hope we have the biggest laugh together and not take ourselves too seriously! I hope you’re down for growing and learning with me - humbling ourselves, listening to the experts, each other and really giving each moment our best shot, generous & forgiving of one another.”

Things don’t look too good for this couple at the moment - especially after the emergence of a potential spoiler - but fingers crossed they’re still friends.

Andrea and Richard

Andrea and Richard have each shared a number of photos together on their Instagram profiles, including their inaugural dinner party snap.

“My first dinner party with this silver fox… excited much!” Andrea captioned her post, while Richard wrote, “Loved up after a wonderful wedding and a special honeymoon 🥰”.

These two at least seem to be friendly with one another post-show, but time will tell how long they stay in a romantic relationship.

Ellie and Ben

Based on the fact that Ben has chosen humour over romance for each of his Instagram captions, it would be fair to assume that these two don’t work out.

The travel guide made a sporting reference in one photo of himself and Ellie at their wedding - writing, “Feeling like Steven Bradbury” - and poked fun at Ellie’s over-protective cousin Jordan in another post.

“I wish Jordan would make like my pants and split,” he captioned a photo of his first dance with Ellie.

Meanwhile, Ellie has chosen very simple captions for her posts that don’t give anything away about her feelings towards Ben - although she did choose to post a solo dinner party photo as the first image in her Instagram gallery, which says a lot in the social media world.

Natalie and Collins

In case anyone was still feeling hopeful these two would work out after their dinner party walkout, their Instagram posts prove otherwise.

The bride and groom each shared photos from their wedding day with no mention of their partner, and they posted the same snap on Monday night of Natalie crying at the dinner party.

“Devastated. I’ve got a lot to learn…” Collins wrote in his caption, while Natalie simply posted a broken heart emoji.
