Aldi shoppers are not afraid to share their finds - from the good to the bad to the mouldy. In numerous fan groups dedicated to the affordable grocery chain, customers love to recommend items to their fellow fans and warn them against others.

In a recent post shared with one such group, a shopper's review of a popular snack drew mixed responses from people who had also tried it. The item in question? The Urban Eats Brazilian Style Cheese Bread (Pão de queijo) which Aldi sells for $5.99 a bag.

"Has anyone else tried these?" one customer asked the group. "We couldn’t swallow them. The cheese inside is like eating chewy plastic that won’t break down."

Other people quickly weighed in with their hot takes with many agreeing with the original poster.

"I threw them out, the cheese inside tasted like I was chewing glue," one person said.

"They just don’t break down. The more you chew the more you gag!" added another.

"You can almost choke on these because they do not break down. They also have very little flavour," lamented a different shopper.

"I had trouble - bit like getting a bit of rubber down your throat," someone else said.

"My husband and I described them as trying to eat a booger oyster," another shopper hilariously relayed.

Other people were slightly less emphatic with their dislike of the cheesy snack with comments such as "We weren’t a fan either," "Wasn’t a hit with my family either" and "I didn't like them. Taste weird."

Another shopper shared that they weren't the worst thing she had ever tried but that one chance was enough.

"I thought it wasn't terrible but it's a really strange texture. Wouldn't buy again," she said.

"I hated them, straight to the chooks," added another.

It wasn't all doom and gloom for these cheesy balls though as several people said that they were fans of the affordable snack.

"We love them," several people wrote.

"You need to cook them a bit longer than the original Cheesebuddys. I love them!!! Cheese buddies are better but I find you have to cook these ones longer, they are not nice if you undercook them," another person helpfully added.

"Have bought these and enjoyed them," a third wrote.

TikToker Cassidy previously shared her review of the gluten free Aldi find, expressing that while she did find them quite chewy, they were also enjoyable.

The video was viewed more than 30,000 times with some of her followers suggested that she cook the cheese bread for longer to help with the chewiness.

Back in the Facebook group, another Aldi shopper came to the proverbial table with similar advice writing, "Cook them in the Airfryer at 185 degrees for 17-18 minutes. It is delicious to eat with cream cheese spread."

And others still aimed to clear up any confusion about what the popular Brazilian treat is supposed to taste like.

"I think people get confused. The cheese is in the dough, there’s no cheese centre. It’s the tapioca flour that gives it that texture," someone wrote.

"Yep, it’s a chewy bite that tastes cheesy. It’s not supposed to me melted cheese. I love these," another replied.
