There are many wonderful things about caravanning. The chance to see new and intriguing places, the opportunity to travel affordably and the possibility of meeting like-minded folks on the road, for example. Then there are the less appealing sides to it, like trying to fit all of the essentials into a much smaller space, forgoing some of your favourite luxuries and trying to still eat decent meals while travelling.

Kmart shoppers and caravan enthusiasts have at least found a great hack for that last issue, courtesy of a $15 item that has been going viral for a while now and for a range of different reasons. You may have seen the Microwave Toastie Maker pop up in your social media feed, and if you are a caravan owner, these nifty little items are a must-have for life on the road.

"These things are the best!" someone else replied. "You should try grilling chicken with a drizzle of bbq sauce - so very good!"

After another shopper shared a photo of their mini toastie maker, she was inundated with comments from people urging her to buy the microwave version.

"You need to try the microwave one from Kmart best money I’ve ever spent and best toasted sandwich 3 minutes and it’s done," one person prompted.

"Looks great but microwave ones are also amazing," another said.

Of course, Kmart is not the only place selling the toastie makers - which might be a good thing seeing as they keep selling out in a flash!

Other caravan owners have praised the Micro Munchy, which can be purchased through Amazon Australia (although it's significantly more at $50) while others still have said that Big W and Temu also have affordable options.

Best of all, the toastie maker doesn't just make toasties; it has also been used by some keen shoppers to cook bacon, rissoles, and chicken tenders in a matter of minutes.

For example, one Kmart shopper shared a recipe hack on Facebook, demonstrating that she'd managed to make gourmet-looking pastries. To create the savoury dish, the author said she "cooks frozen chopped spinach in olive oil with garlic and onions and adds fresh ricotta cheese", saying the pastry was ready in four minutes.

"It’s either the best or the worst gadget ever cos I won’t stop eating carbs," the post was captioned. "[It's] great for pastries too!"

"I was thinking of trying a pastry dessert one time," one person said, with someone else saying "Here comes Nutella and strawberries tonight for this house."

Other people came in with their own cooking tips. "Also cut the top off a roll, dig out a little then fill with baked beans and put top back on... no mess, no falling out sides," one person shared. "I heated up a meat pie in mine today, nice and crispy," someone else said.
