Kmart shoppers raving about $3 car-cleaning hack: 'Incredibly satisfying’
Customers said cleaning the car has 'never been so fun'.
A clean house is one thing, but there’s nothing to make you feel more organised and clutter-free than a clean car. Not that I would know what that’s like - my 15-year-old Toyota Yaris is practically a storage unit at this point, and perennially scattered with empty Red Bull cans and general car grit. Yuck, I know.
But budget-conscious Kmart shoppers might just have a solution to my problem - and it only costs $3. Fans of the discount retailer have taken to social media to rave about the brand’s Car Cleaning Goo. Yes, goo - but don’t knock it ‘til you’ve tried it.
The slime-like substance is sold in a tub, and shoppers have demonstrated using it to remove any dirt, crumbs and dust in the nooks and crannies of their cars.

Content creator Miranda Brady told Yahoo Lifestyle that the product was “such a simple concept that makes car cleaning fun”.
“There’s something incredibly satisfying about the Kmart Car Goo, getting into crevices that a vacuum never reaches,” Brady said. “It’s the most efficient car cleaning tool I’ve used in a long time.”
She even shared the hack with her more than 400,000 TikTok followers in a recent video stating that the $3 cleaning goo was “the only thing that gets sand out of my car”.
Mini vacuum vs goop - which cleans your car better?
Now you might be wondering, surely a mini car vacuum would perform just as well as the goop, right?
Well according to Brady, vacuums just don’t work as well for car grit compared to the Kmart product, particularly sand.
Brisbane-based creator Renei Koko also praised the slimy cleaning hack on her page, sharing that “cleaning the car had never been so fun”. And not gonna lie, her car looks pretty spick and span after using the goop!
“Now this is taking dusting to the next level,” one enthusiastic follower commented on Koko’s post.
However, one commenter raised a fair question — how do you clean the goo? Is it reusable, or a one-and-done type situation?
Comments across various platforms suggest it’s reusable, but can’t be cleaned itself. The general advice is to simply store the goo back in its original tub, and keep using it until it’s too dusty to pick up anything new.

Other reviews have also shown that the goop is handy for dusting any surfaces — not just cars — including those inside the house, as well as in the crevices of computer keyboards and other devices.
Plus, apparently, it smells really good, too! Win-win.
