Kmart shoppers adore $10 dupe of popular item apart from hilarious issue: 'Mine do this'
Kmart shoppers have provided a handy tip to stop a popular dupe item from embarrassing them.
It's no news to any of us that we're in a cost-of-living crisis, and there's never been a better time to be shopping for cheap dupes of more expensive items and then just pretending you don't know any better. It takes me back to the early '00s when Von Dutch caps became all the rage and somewhere on the black web you could find a fake one and turn up to school and make your friends jealous by pretending it was real.
As most Aussies know, Kmart is the perfect place to find cheap dupes of more expensive products. From clothes to beauty and toiletry items to tech gadgets and homewares, it's basically your one-stop shop for anyone on a budget.
Kmart is also known for its very budget-friendly shoe range, and as we're heading into summer, one item that often flies off the shelves is Kmart's cheap $10 version of Birkenstocks, which they call 'double band slides'. Doesn't roll off the tongue as nicely, but beggars can't be choosers.
While the shoes are obviously very popular, Kmart shoppers have pointed out one big flaw with them...
Kmart shoppers' big issue with $10 dupe
Many Kmart shoppers have agreed that while the slides are a great summer shoe, there is an issue.
"I have a pair of these and they make a noise when I walk," one person posted in a Kmart fan group. "Does anyone have the same problem and how can I stop it?"
A lot of Kmart fans couldn't help but poke fun at the squeaky shoes which one person labelled as 'farty'.
"Mine did the same when I first bought them last summer the squeak eventually went away," one person said. "They are comfy but farty shoes, I just say 'it wasnt me!' and keep walking lol," another commented.
"Omigosh, the return of the fart shoes," someone else laughed.

However, there were quite a few helpful comments from people who have suffered the squeak before but will go on to buy the cheap shoe again.
"Push some little holes in the arch, I just use scissors. If it still makes noise you haven’t done enough. Works a treat," one person said. "I have heard you put pinholes in the soles," another commented, while someone else suggested talcum powder.

The shoes have overwhelmingly positive reviews online, with people saying they "swear" by the slides.
"They’re very comfy and can be worn literally anywhere. We have gone on such adventures together and I love them to bits, they may be slowly degrading but that’s because they’re loved and continue to be!" one person said. "Would highly recommend."
"For the price, these are marvellous," another reviewed. "They're comfortable and just a great casual piece to wear around."
