Kmart's most affordable fashion dupes: From activewear to designer dresses and 90s core

There's a reason the cool kids are calling it 'Slaymart'.

Kmart is officially rocking its dupe era, and honestly, we're here for it...because who doesn't love snagging luxe looks without breaking the bank?

Making a return to the Melbourne Fashion Festival over the weekend, Kmart showcased its fashion prowess for the second year running. It was evident that the retailer had upped its dupe game, presenting a myriad of looks that emulated high-end styles without the high-end price.

That's right, Kmart continues to dominate the dupe game, extending its reach across both menswear and activewear.

From a $55 sherpa-lined jacket mirroring a $169.95 Ellesse original, to activewear pieces reminiscent of Lululemon, Kmart is proving that affordable fashion knows no bounds. Savvy shoppers lauded Kmart's denim trench as a convincing dupe for a $350 version from One Teaspoon, with some even likening it to the $700 denim trench coat from Camilla and Marc; talk about a style steal!

Luxe-looks for less

In the realm of affordable fashion, womenswear of course emerged as a star player in Kmart's dupe game. Take, for instance, the retailer's $20 sleeveless boat neck tie-dye midi dress, offering a striking resemblance to a DISSH dress priced nearly eight times higher.

But that's not all; Kmart's $45.00 distressed bomber jacket is another standout, closely resembling a similar style from Zara, which retails for a hefty $149.00.

According to Kmart's Head of Design & Forecast Kenny McLaren, the retailer's design team stays ahead of the curve by drawing inspiration from a myriad of sources, including trend sites, forecasts, and yes, even TikTok and Instagram. It's all about giving customers what they want without blowing the budget.

Autumn/winter style picks

And, it's not just about dupes. Kmart womenswear buyer Catherine Wringe revealed some exciting trends to watch out for in AW24.

While colour remains a key player, neutrals are taking centre stage this season. Think layered neutrals that offer versatility and endless mixing and matching possibilities. It's all about embracing the capsule wardrobe trend and effortlessly chic ensembles.

"Last season we had a lot of really bright colours, and that's just shifted. So, colours are still a big part of what we do, it's just it's toned off a bit," she said.

Kmart's also giving a nod to the 90s core trend, serving up slinky slip dresses and mesh tops with velvet detailing – all at price that won't stretch your budget.
