Kmart has done it again with a new bargain product that’s flying off shelves. For just $19, this unexpected dental device is wowing customers who say it’s a total game-changer for their oral hygiene routine. While similar devices can cost up to $100, this one offers a budget-friendly alternative that doesn’t skimp on performance. It’s called a water flosser (or oral irrigator), and it uses a gentle stream of water to help clean between your teeth, getting rid of food bits and plaque without the hassle of traditional flossing.

Water flossers have become a popular tool for improving oral hygiene, and Dr. Mark Dohlad, Bupa Dental Principal Dentist, confirms the benefits. “Water flossers use jets of pressurised water to clean the spaces between and around your teeth,” Dr. Dohlad told Yahoo Lifestyle. “For some people, it’s more comfortable and easier to use than traditional floss, which can sometimes cause discomfort.”

“I was getting braces soon, and I needed something that would make cleaning easier,” she shared with Yahoo Lifestyle. “My teeth are quite close together, and traditional flossing has always been a struggle, so I had high hopes this flosser would do the trick.”

The Kmart $19 water flosser is quickly becoming a household staple, particularly for those who dread traditional flossing.

Not only does it promise a deep clean between your teeth, but customers like Ashlea are raving about how it's helped simplify their dental routine.

"It took a few tries to figure out the technique, but now I’ve noticed my gums are much happier, and I’m no longer dealing with plaque buildup in hard-to-reach spots," Ashlea said.

Many users in a popular Kmart Facebook group are also singing its praises, with one shopper commenting, “The battery lasts twice or three times longer than my electric toothbrush, and I’ve noticed a huge reduction in bleeding when I floss.”

Despite its low price, shoppers are finding that the Kmart water flosser holds its own against much pricier alternatives and dentists agree that opting for a cheaper model is generally fine.

Dr Peter Laird, Principle Dentist at Glenferrie Dental, notes that while a higher-priced model might come with more dental tips for specific situations, “budget-friendly water flossers can still provide similar levels of oral health benefits as long as they are used correctly.”

"When I first bought it, I told my partner, 'No way this will work as well as the expensive ones I've seen,' but after using it, I was blown away by the pressure," Ashlea said.

Another Facebook user backed this up, sharing, "I purchased this one for travel and love it. It’s just as good as my very expensive one."

Dr. Dohlad agrees that you don't need to spend a lot to find an effective water flosser.

“What matters is whether the product provides the necessary pressure and precision to push food particles from between teeth,” he explains. However, he also advises shoppers to consult their dentist to ensure the flosser suits their unique oral health needs, as “no two mouths are the same.”

With rave reviews rolling in, shoppers appear to be finding that this $19 investment is paying off.

Ashlea was impressed with the quality right out of the box, saying, "I was genuinely surprised by the attachments it came with—there’s a tongue cleaner, brushes for plaque, and different heads for varying levels of pressure."

And it’s not just the features that are turning heads.

"For the price I paid, I didn’t expect much in terms of battery life, but I think I’ve only charged it once since I got it!" Ashlea said.

While shoppers are thrilled with the Kmart water flosser, many are still cautious about completely replacing traditional floss.

One commenter said, "My dentist says it should never replace using floss, though I've noticed like maybe 70-95% less bleeding when I floss now."

Dr. Laird echoed this sentiment when speaking to Yahoo Lifestyle, explaining that while water flossers are great for enhancing your oral hygiene routine, “they are generally recommended as a supplementary tool to traditional floss."

Ashlea is convinced that the Kmart water flosser is a no-brainer for anyone looking for an affordable and effective solution.

"I’d totally recommend it, especially to anyone struggling with flossing, oral hygiene, or even getting braces!"

Dr. Dohlad concluded with one word of advice for shoppers: "Just make sure to run any option past your dentist first before you make any long-standing commitments."
