Karl Stefanovic slams experts over MAFS Lizzie fail
Karl Stefanovic has taken a not so subtle jibe at the Married At First Sight relationship experts, ahead of the premiere episode of the controversial reality show tonight.
John Aiken, Mel Schilling and Dr Trisha Stratford appeared on the Today show on Monday morning to chat to Karl and Allison Langdon about the upcoming season of MAFS, when Karl questioned their success rate of correctly matching couples.
He specifically called them out on the huge failure that was fan favourite Elizabeth Sobinoff’s disastrous marriage to cheater Sam Ball in 2019.
Something Mel Shilling admitted when they touched on Lizzie’s return to the show.
“She didn't get a fair go last time,” Mel said. “Did she? Poor Lizzie.”
To which Karl hit out, “Well, that's your fault.”
The jibe however was met with laughter before Mel said, “I wasn't unfaithful to her.”
“She didn't get a chance at love,” John jumped in. “We thought we would bring her back. She's a unique quirky character and people will relate to her.”
Elizabeth Sobinoff returns to MAFS for a second wedding
Not to be deterred by her disastrous first run on Married at First Sight last year, controversial star Elizabeth Sobinoff is hoping second time will be the charm as she confirms her return to the show in 2020.
“I’m going to get the love that I deserve,” she says in one of the show’s promos.

Fans of the ‘social experiment’ took to the comments section of the promo on Facebook to share their thoughts on Lizzie’s news.
“Whooooo can’t wait!!!! I hope Liz finds love this year and isn’t set up with an absolute douchecanoe!” wrote one.
“Love that Elizabeth is back and looking for love,” said another.
“Can’t wait to watch Elizabeth again. Best drama ever,” wrote one while another remarked that the former platinum blonde “looks so much better as a brunette”.
Liz drew the short straw with cheating groom
Lizzie certainly had a rough experience with her first groom, Sam Ball. Tradie Sam, 26, infamously ditched his bride the morning after their wedding before embarking on a clandestine fling with fellow star Ines Basic.
Sam was having an affair with Ines Basic for just about his whole time on the show, with the whole thing coming to a head on an explosive MAFS episode.
Married at First Sight 2020 scandals
Meanwhile, other reports of the 2020 season of MAFS are equally as mind-blowing, with a source saying that filming had to stop for a two-week break after things got out of hand.
The source also alleged the newest season will see even more couple swapping between the newlywed brides and grooms and that one participant needed to be taken to rehab.
Newlyweds Jules Robinson and Cam Merchant - who said 'I do' for real in a lavish TV wedding - are also said to make an appearance, however, they won’t be re-entering the experiment but rather returning as a success story.
Even the MAFS experts hinted at the fact
“There's three major bomb shells that go off this year as well that everybody will be talking about,” John said on Today. “Three big ones.”
