Home and Away's storyline divides fans: 'Doesn't make sense'

Some fans have labelled Eden and Cash's storyline 'boring'.

Home and Away’s season return opened with a bang this year, with a horrific car crash involving Eden Fowler (Stephanie Panozzo), Felicity Newman (Jacqui Purvis), Leah Patterson (Ada Nicodemou) and Justin Morgan (James Stewart) resulting in some long-term injuries.

While Leah has seemingly recovered after being impaled by a fence pole, Eden is still recovering from the accident. Before the crash, the guitarist had declared her romantic feelings for Cash Newman (Nicholas Cartwright), who refused to return her feelings.

Now, Eden is suffering from a form of amnesia, and while Cash is ready to explore a relationship with her, she has been pushing Cash away.

It seems as though her memory is unsettling for her, with a flashback of a kiss she shared with Cash causing distress.

Fans have been sharing their confusion over the storyline, with many wondering why she has forgotten moments shared with Cash, but seemingly remembers everything else.

“This storyline with Eden and Cash is really stupid,” one person wrote in a fan group. “Why is she getting so upset because she remembers kissing him, it’s so pathetic.

“If it was me, I’d be like, make me remember, or let’s make new memories. I wouldn’t freak out like that remember intimate moments.”

Others agreed with her, saying they were also wondering why Eden was acting like this.

“Why can she remember everything else and just not that?” one asked, while another added: “Agreed. I said the exact same thing to my husband. Not to mention she remembers everything except him. Makes no sense.”

“I am 78 & never even heard of someone with amnesia, but this is not the first time Home and Away have used it. It’s getting a bit boring,” another remarked.

Others pointed out that some cast members seemed to have recovered at such differing rates.

“If this was real life, there would be no way Leah would have survived that crash so fast,” a fan pointed out.

“What is also stupid is that the most injured person, Leah, is off on a holiday and that Remi is still going on about his hand,” another wrote.

However, some passionate fans stepped up to defend their favourite TV show.

“For heaven's sake you people! Stop bloody moaning!! If you don't enjoy it, stop watching it!!!!” a viewer exclaimed.

“Omg people it is a storyline and not reality, get a grip and get with it,” added another.

“She still has amnesia and they contradict her memory. That's why [it’s] upsetting when she [remembered kissing] Cash. It is very confusing and jarring…memory loss can be like that. You can forget specific things or people and remember lots of other things. If you haven't experienced it, it probably seems odd. She is portraying it very well though,” a third explained.
