‘Hacks’ Paul W. Downs Calls For More Productions To Be Shot In L.A. Post Wildfires At Critics Choice Awards
Winning Best Comedy Series at the Critics Choice Awards tonight, Hacks co-creator and star Paul W. Downs told the tent at the Santa Monica Barker Hanger that “we need to ask to shoot our shows in L.A.”.
“The people in the room have the power to make it happen,” he said.

The Max series is shot largely in Los Angeles on the Universal lot. One of Hacks‘ main LA locations, Deborah Vance’s (Jean Smart) “side mansion” in Altadena, which has been featured on the show since Season 2, burned down in the Eaton fire.
Shrinking star and music supervisor Christa Miller also said on social recently that season 3 of the AppleTV+ series will continue production in Pasadena and Altadena, where it has always been shot. For Miller, it was important that the production stay in Altadena which was devastated by the Eaton wildfire.
We’ve also heard such Critics Choice winners such as Colin Farrell of The Penguin are trying to behind the scenes keep feature and TV shoots here in the City of Angels.
Hacks post its Emmy wins has been on a roll here at the Critics Choice tonight, also winning Best Comedy Series Actress for Jean Smart, and Best Supporting Comedy Actress for Hannah Einbinder.
