Flogging Molly Singer Dave King Reveals ‘Very Serious’ Health Condition Amid Concert Cancellations
Flogging Molly announced this week that the band’s upcoming concert dates have been canceled in the wake of founding member and bandleader Dave King’s health concerns.
The Celtic punk band announced in a statement posted on social media on Wednesday, Feb. 5, that it will not be touring as planned this year.
“Our fearless leader, the inimitable Dave King, is currently battling a very serious health condition,” the band wrote in a message addressed to the group’s “family, friends and fans.” The band did not specify what the 63-year-old Irish singer’s condition was.
King and his wife, fellow Flogging Molly bandmate Bridget Regan, “ask everyone to respect their privacy at this time,” the band said before vowing to share more information “as we can.”
“Any good thoughts or prayers you can send Dave’s way, he and we would appreciate it. Unfortunately Flogging Molly will be unable to perform shows in 2025,” Flogging Molly’s statement added.
Flogging Molly was due to kick off a Road to Rebellion tour in the U.S. later this month. The tour was scheduled to begin in St. Petersburg, Fla., on Feb. 24 and end in Tucson, Ariz., on March 12. Shortly thereafter, the band was slated to perform three shows in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day from March 15 through 17. The string of shows in Las Vegas, Nev., Tempe, Ariz., and Los Angeles, Calif., was to be called the Shamrock Rebellion.
A European tour was also scheduled to take place in June and July. As of Thursday, Feb. 6, all tour dates had been scrubbed from the band’s website, with the exception of the Salty Dog Cruise. The band noted in its message that “the boat will sail as planned with 18 bands, and members of Flogging Molly, on board to celebrate the cruise, the community and our captain, Dave King.”
Fans who already purchased tickets for upcoming shows were encouraged to seek a refund through their point of purchase.
