Luckily, his partner/the mother of their child, Special Agent Nina Chase (FBI: Most Wanted‘s Shantel VanSanten), is on hand for the episode, as seen in TVLine’s exclusive photos from the franchise’s latest mini-crossover.
In FBI‘s winter premiere, titled “Descent” and airing Tuesday, Jan. 28 at 8/7c, the investigation into an assistant U.S. attorney’s death leads the team to a related airline whistleblower scandal — and the chilling discovery that they don’t have much time to thwart terrorists from crashing numerous in-flight commercial airplanes, using the airlines’ hacked computer systems.
Dealing with the memory of his older brother Doug, who died during the 9/11 terror attacks, the case pushes Scola hard to prevent another, similar catastrophe.
TVLine’s exclusive photos from the emotional hour (seen above and below) feature FBI‘s Boyd and Most Wanted‘s VanSanten, as well as FBI‘s Jeremy Sisto, Zeeko Zaki and Missy Peregrym.
“Scolina” last shared some quality crossover time in the Oct. 29 episode of Most Wanted, when Nina’s father Jackson (played by John Finn) and sister Tink (Hannah Adrian) swung through town, to visit with her and Scola and meet their wee son Dougie.
VanSanten made her debut as Special Agent Chase during FBI Season 4, when Nina temporarily filled in for Maggie (Missy Peregrym) after she was exposed to sarin gas in the line of duty. Nina also served as an undercover agent and continued to recur throughout Season 5 of the mothership series.
VanSanten then moved over to the spinoff FBI: Most Wanted for its fifth season, as a series regular. Most Wanted is now midway through Season 6, with its own winter premiere set to air Tuesday, Jan. 28 at 10 pm.
