A 2015 Box Office Bomb Is The Top Movie On Netflix Right Now

“In the Heart of the Sea” is currently the most popular movie on Netflix, according to the platform’s public ranking system.

The 2015 adventure drama is based on Nathaniel Philbrick’s non-fiction book about the sinking of the whaling vessel Essex in 1820, which was one of the inspirations for Herman Melville’s “Moby Dick.” Directed by Ron Howard, the film stars Chris Hemsworth, Benjamin Walker, Cillian Murphy, Tom Holland, Ben Whishaw, and Brendan Gleeson.

“In the Heart of the Sea” premiered in Dec. 2015 to mixed reviews from critics and was a box office bomb. But clearly the film is reaching new audiences on Netflix.

“Juror #2”

The most popular movie on Max right now is “Juror #2.” The legal thriller stars Nicholas Hoult as a man serving on the jury for a murder trial who realizes he might actually be the one responsible for the victim’s death.

“Juror #2” also stars Toni Collette, J. K. Simmons, Chris Messina, Zoey Deutch, Cedric Yarbrough and Kiefer Sutherland.

“Mothers’ Instinct”

“Mothers’ Instinct” is the most popular movie on Hulu right now. The psychological thriller stars Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway as mothers in 1960s suburban America who forge a close friendship. After tragedy strikes, however, their lives and bond begin to unravel.

“Mothers’ Instinct,” which was released in U.S. theaters in July 2024, is a remake of a 2018 French film, which was an adaptation of a 2012 novel.

“Conclave”

“Conclave” is trending on Peacock after joining the platform in December. Based on a 2016 novel by Robert Harris, the mystery thriller centers around a papal conclave to elect the next pope.

“Conclave” stars Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow, Sergio Castellitto, and Isabella Rossellini. The film won a Golden Globe for Best Screenplay and was nominated in five additional categories.

“Blink”

The National Geographic documentary “Blink” is available to stream on Disney+.

The film follows a Canadian family of six as they travel around the world to show their children as much as they can before they lose their vision as a result of a rare genetic disorder. “Blink” premiered at the 51st Telluride Film Festival in August and has received mostly positive reviews from critics.
