Erin Molan reveals 'creepy' run in with stranger at hotel pool
Erin Molan has detailed a scary encounter with a man at a hotel pool who she sprung filming herself and her daughter.
Erin Molan has told a bizarre story about her run-in with a 'creep' at a hotel pool last week, divulging to her co-stars on 2Day FM's Hughesy, Ed, and Erin about an incident that involved an older man filming herself and her six-year-old daughter.
Talking to Ed Kavalee and Grant Denyer, who was stepping in for Dave Hughes' absence, Erin explained the story in detail, calling the ordeal 'creepy'.
"We walked in, and it was just her [Erin's daughter Eliza] and I, and there was one other man and a little girl swimming, and they left as we got there and then there was one man just kind of standing there looking out the window — wasn't in swimming clothes or anything — just in normal clothes," Erin began.
"So Eliza and I put our stuff down, and started to take off [clothes] — I was just wearing a hotel robe and she was wearing whatever — and he was just looking and went and sat down, facing us, and watching," she said.
'He was obviously looking at the phone filming'
Erin went on to say that the man was giving the pair a 'direct stare' after Grant asked if it was possible his eyes were just scanning the room.
"[Eyes] locked on," she said. "I'm in a bikini, and Eliza's in her swimmers, so I felt so uncomfortable but I thought maybe he's waiting for someone, maybe his kids are getting changed, or maybe he's going to go swimming."
Erin said she also entertained the idea that the man may have just recognised her as a public figure.
"Also being entirely frank, and because it's me and a lot of people recognise me, you don't automatically think he's being creepy," she explained, before saying she noticed he was holding his phone as the two got into the pool and there was "no doubt" in her mind that he had begun filming.
"Eliza was getting out of the pool and doing jumps and that kind of thing," Erin said. "Then I went to get out, I was watching him and the camera/phone was moving in the direction she was going... I climbed out of the pool, and I looked straight up at him and he kinda jumped a bit because I looked at the phone and he was obviously looking at the phone filming me getting out of the pool."

Erin said her daughter was upset when she told her they had to leave the pool, but the man continued to just sit there holding up his phone.
"So I just got my phone up and took a very obvious photo of him, but then put our towels around us and we left," she said. I kept thinking afterwards, should I have said anything? When I'm there alone with my little girl, what should I have done in that situation? It was just creepy."
She said she later felt like she didn't do the right thing and maybe could have confronted the man in question, but was worried about the consequences.
"I don't know what I should have done, but I feel like I didn't do the right thing," she told her co-hosts.
A caller, who works in child protection, later rang into the radio show and said in the future if people are facing this issue to advise staff and call the police straight away.
