Chris Hemsworth risks injury during wild moment: 'My spine'

Chris Hemsworth has just given fans a hilarious look at his Christmas antics with his family. In a video posted on Instagram, he demonstrated how to put the star on top of a tree with the help of his wife Elsa Pataky.

Instead of using a ladder, the celebrity couple decided to choose a daring method — with Elsa perched on top of Chris’ shoulders. Even with the Thor star’s height, Elsa couldn't quite reach the top of the tree.

“Last year we tried this but with me on Elsa’s shoulders…nor the tree or @elsapataky’s knee made it,” Chris wrote in the caption. “After 12 months of preparation we finally figured it out. A star is born!!”

Children watch on excitedly as the couple attempt to place the star on the tree in a nail-biting moment.

“Almost there,” Elsa yells, as people laugh in the background.

“You can do it, Elsa, I’m gonna stand on my tippy-toes. Ready?” Chris says, before launching Elsa upwards. It looks like the pair are headed for disaster as the tree starts to fall, with the pine needles being jammed into his face.

The pair manage to land the star onto the tree before celebrating. In a hilarious quip, Chris then complained about how the toll of carrying Elsa affected ‘his spine’.

Fans found the clip hilarious, with many referencing Chris’ most famous role as superhero Thor.

“When your wife asks you to bring the ladder, but you are God of Thunder,” one person joked.

“I’d fall straight into that tree. Wife’s got mad skillz,” another added.

“It’s not officially Christmas season until the spinal injuries start,” quipped a third.

“This should be an easy job for THOR,” another remarked.

“Next year ask Santa for a ladder?” another suggested.

“You need Spiderman,” joked another.
