Caravan owner's $29 Bunnings fix for common summer issue: 'Have to get one'
For people travelling with pets, this product could be a game-changer.
For the thousands of Aussies who are pet owners, leaving their furry mates behind when they go on holiday is not an option. Whether it's due to the exorbitant kennelling fees that most places charge or simply that they cannot bear to be away from their fur children (guilty), more and more people are opting to take their four-legged companions with them when they travel.
Camping and caravanning are great for this, as many caravan parks and campsites are pet-friendly, so you can take your dog with you on your adventures. While there is nothing better than roaming around with your bestie in tow, there are some issues that come up when travelling with pets, especially in the heat of summer.
One pet and caravan owner has found and shared a simple solution for this problem, explaining in a Facebook group that a product from Bunnings was working well to keep her dogs cool.
"FYI how to keep your doggies cool," they wrote. "I just bought this from Bunnings for my dogs for $29. Works great very light mist just enough to cool me and doggies down."

She also shared a photo of the item - the Click USB Powered Misting Fan from the hardware retailer. The handy, portable fan features three misting level and fan speed settings as well as an eight-hour time and seven light colour settings.
According to the Bunnings customer, the fan uses around 700ml of water to work.

The caravan owner's post was met with plenty of comments from fellow pet owners who said they had been looking for something like this for their own pups.
"Spoke to four different staff members before new years and they swore they wouldn't have anything that isn't mains power... something like this is what I was after," one shopper wrote.
"Have added it to hubby’s shopping list! Thanks!," another said.
"Thank you, I have just ordered on online delivery," someone else commented.
"This looks awesome! We'll have to get one," another person added.
Another Bunnings customer mentioned that they had purchased a similar item from the retailer, writing, "We got the RYOBI misting fan. It works great but too wet for inside. We plan on using it in the awning on extreme days. You can leave it on without water and has a rechargeable battery."
However, it's worth noting that the RYOBI version, which one happy customer raved about using at home on a 37-degree day, is several times the price of the USB version at $150.
Simple Bunnings hack for staying cool in Summer
It's not the first time Bunnings has saved the day for caravanners as the temperatures have soared. One travelling family recently took to social media to rave about the Holman 7m Misting Kit With SwapLock Fittings from the hardware store, demonstrating how they had hooked it up to their caravan shade cloth to keep them all cool on a stinking hot day.

"It lets off literally the perfect amount of spritz," the owner says in the video. "Not too much to drown you, but just enough to wet you. Enough so you are moist."
Bunnings fans were quick to share that the misting kit was not just useful when on the road but when at home too.
"My hubby did that on our patio. It’s great 👏," one person enthused.
"Even better when they put it on the back alfresco of your house," another added.
