Bill Maher Makes a Bold Declaration About Travis Kelce’s Romantic Future
Bill Maher is no stranger to sharing his opinion on romance, and he's apparently just as eager to chit-chat about other people's relationships as he is to discuss his own.
Maher's most recent comments came during an episode of his Club Random podcast that aired earlier this week and featured a conversation with special guest Luke Bryan–who, at one point during the show, found himself defending Taylor Swift.
The two were deep in a conversation about successful pop artists like Beyoncé and Swift when Maher, 69, told Bryan that he didn't "quite get the music" that either of them create.
Maher, who has been critical of Swift and her relationship with Travis Kelce in the past, ultimately admitted that he "admires" her, but not without Bryan, 48, coming in to defend his pal and fellow musician.
"Yeah, the music either works or it doesn't. But as a human, I have great admiration, because to be that far up in the stratosphere and not be doing anything stupid, be still a good role model, basically. You know, she's had a bunch of boyfriends …" Maher said.
"The only thing people can say about her [is] she's had boyfriends?" Bryan interjected. "Then she goes and lands Travis Kelce and then it's like, 'Oh my gosh, she's crushing it."'
But Maher doesn't seem to agree with the overall perception that the Kansas City Chiefs tight end is "end game" for the 35-year-old singer.
"So what?" Maher said. "First of all, that's gonna end."
"I want to go on record saying—and this is not a knock on either one of them, I think they're both fine people—but that relationship is going to end like [the stage name of] Rihanna's [partner]: ASAP and Rock," he teased, later adding, "No, but, look, Travis is not the keeper—he's just not. I mean, he's not yet ready to be house-trained. He's not. And he's going to be coming off another Super Bowl."
But Bryan wasn't about to make assumptions about the couple, pushing back and telling Maher, "I'm not getting into any of that."
"Of course, you shouldn't, but I'm just telling you," Maher suggested, "He's you 20 years ago with more liquor in him."
If the criticism sounds familiar, it's because it was only a few months ago that the comedian first suggested the power couple were headed toward a split.
"He's gonna dump her though, you know that?" Maher said during a July 2024 episode of his pod. "With her, it’s like the Gatorade at the Super Bowl, you know you’re gonna get dumped. You just don’t know when."
Still, Maher is seemingly one of the few who believe the couple's relationship may never make it to the next step. Ahead of Super Bowl LIX on Sunday, Feb. 9–which Swift is expected to attend–Kelce was asked about a rumor that he plans to propose to his girlfriend of a little over a year during the big game.
