Big Brother VIP's Imogen Anthony spills on Kyle Sandilands split

Imogen Anthony has opened up about her split from radio star Kyle Sandilands after eight years together, in a candid chat in the Big Brother VIP house.

Speaking to her housemate Jessika Power, Imogen, 30, revealed intimate details behind the couple's mid-2019 breakup after dreaming about her ex the night before.

Imogen on Kyle split: 'I wanted kids'

When MAFS star Jess asked her why her relationship with shock jock Kyle, 50, came to an end, Imogen didn't hold back in Wednesday night's episode.

"He was just working so much," she said. "It was just work, work, work, and I wanted to have kids. We just kind of grew apart.”

"I just didn't expect everything to happen the way it did afterwards," she went on. "And he's confused, and he doesn't know what he wants."

Imogen admitted that she tried to make things work with Kyle until it became 'undeniable' that they would part ways.

"I'm thinking, like, what other choice do I have? You know, this is the person I've been with for so long. Of course I'm going to hang on a whim," she said.

"Maybe, you know, do we get back together? And then all of sudden, the things were just too undeniable, and I was like, 'what are you doing?'"

'Want someone's time'

Later, alone in the diary room, Big Brother quizzed Imogen on what was 'missing' from her life with Kyle and she again raised the issue of children and work-life balance.

"I wanted things that he couldn't give me. You know, money and fame isn't the be-all and end-all of life," she said.

"You know, it's nice for a little while, but I want to have children that can run around with their father and not be put behind work. I want someone's time."

"I'm not going to let someone else write my narrative for me," she said, tearing up.

Kyle's baby plans

After his split with Imogen, Kyle began dating his former personal assistant, Tegan Kynaston, with the couple going public on New Year's Eve in 2019.

Kyle initially shared the news that he and Tegan were trying for a baby back in August 2021 during a segment with psychic Georgina Walker on The Kyle and Jackie O show.

More recently, he said that 35-year-old Tegan 'definitely wants kids,' and revealed that he intends to undergo fertility testing.

Kyle explained that he was 'open' to having children but admitted he'd been too 'selfish' to start a family in the past.

"I've been too selfish to have one, like, I thought maybe I'd have a kid one day but it's never been the right time," he said.

Kyle was previously married to singer Tamara Jaber from 2008 to 2010.
