Kyle Sandilands has split with his girlfriend of eight years, Imogen Anthony, saying their relationship has ‘run its course’.

The 48-year-old shock jock confirmed the sad news on his KIIS FM radio show this morning, the Kyle and Jackie O show, choking up as he made the announcement to his fans.

“We haven’t been living with each other for quite a few months now, unfortunately it’s run its course,” he started.

“Just when you start to think everything’s good...”

“We won’t be going into any detail about anything, we haven’t been living together for quite some time and that’s just the way it is, no problems there, just sort of… well, yeah, you know how it is," he said to co-host Jackie, who recently separated from her husband Lee Henderson.

Kyle and Imogen had been dating since 2011, after meeting at Kyle’s 40th birthday, and two years ago they bought a farm in the NSW town of Robertson, said to be worth $3 million.

In 2018, they invited MTV Cribs into their Mosman home, revealing the extravagance that is their personal five-bedroom playground.

With a special private cinema, an over-the-top dresser and walk-in wardrobe for Imogen, a luxe master bedroom complete with Versace interior decor and a ‘Hollywood-style en suite and spa’, the KIIS FM host’s abode definitely met his self-appointed ‘King Kyle’ title.

The announcement of their split today comes after fans quizzed Imogen about Kyle’s whereabouts over the weekend, when she stepped out dressed as Marge Simpson for a Halloween party in LA.

“𝙒𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙚 𝙃𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙮 𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠. 𝙆𝙮𝙡𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙙𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙃𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙧 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙮 𝙞𝙣 𝘼𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙖,” she captioned one of the pics from the event on her Instagram page.

“Did Kyle go as Homer? As that is couple goals,” asked one fan.“He was but had to stay!” Imogen replied, adding a sad face emoji.

Another fan suggested that Imogen had ‘blocked’ her friend’s account after they inquired about her relationships with the shock jock, adding that his no-show at the Halloween ’do was ‘the real giveaway’ that they’d broken up.

“We are only asking because we follow you both.... did you block my friend because she asked about Kyle? Really sorry if you’re going through something but it’s been so long and no Halloween party was the real give away and he said something on air the other day... that said “I’ll tell ’Em” instead of I’ll tell Imogen,” they wrote.

Imogen clapped back, claiming that the fan was ‘looking into this too much’.“lol what?? i think you are looking into this too much babes fml ... go read a book and live, jesus…” Imogen replied.

Another fan asked, ‘Where’s Kyle?’ to which Imogen responded by referring them to her earlier comment.

A report in New Idea in July claimed the pair had been "living separate lives for a while".

Imogen seemed to hit back at the reports just days later, uploaded a risqué snap of the pair straddling each other on a couch.

“You got that odd kinda love that i like” 8 years, still counting and they are still trying to rock this b***h. come ON!! Get it together idiots " she wrote in the caption.

That was 16 weeks ago and it’s the last post Imogen uploaded to her Instagram of the pair together.

Back in 2018, Imogen told news.com.au that as Kyle got older she felt she needed to take care of him.

“Kyle is constant,” she said. “I have to make sure he’s well and has got a voice and he’s fed and all the rest of it.

“All men, I don’t care what anyone says, they start to regress back to being like teenagers as they get older and they need to be mothered a little bit more.

She went on to say that she didn’t think they could “live without each other”.

Despite there being a 20-year age gap between then, Kyle never saw that as a problem in their relationship, saying in 2014 that it makes no difference to him.

“She is not a super-young 22-year-old and I am not a super-old 41-year-old,” he said in an interview with news.com.au.

“I am a workaholic but I spend every moment I can with Imogen.”

It’s been a hectic few weeks for Kyle, who’s new show Trial By Kyle was ridiculed online when it debuted at the end of October.

It came after the radio host took to the airwaves on KIIS 106.5 to apologise over an offensive joke he made regarding Virgin Mary.

Recognising that he had hurt and offended many of his loyal listeners, Kyle did not hold back in his apology, calling the joke and himself ‘dumb’ - but making it very clear that he would not be standing down over it.

“I know what I said, in reflection, was dumb, and I’m the dumb one for saying it,” he said, “Because who am I to say what you, or you, or you should believe in?”

“Contrary to popular belief, never do I intend to purposely piss people off... never is it purposely done,” he continued.

“I am going to quit? No. Am I going to get fired? No. Am I sorry. Yes. There's nothing else I can do but say sorry”.

Many of the offended people were listeners of the show, with 150 writing into the station to make formal complaints - something Kyle conceded he did not expect.

“Truly, from the bottom of my heart, never do I want to make someone so angry that they don’t want to listen to this show or they don’t want to listen to me,” he said.

He added that even friends of his pulled him up over the joke, and said he did not realise how offensive he was being as religion was never part of his upbringing.
